Iowawegian Posted June 11, 2009 #1 Posted June 11, 2009 Hoping that those of you who are on the site this morning can say a quick prayer. Our oldest son is doing is first long distance solo flight this morning up to our airport to meet us! Grandpa who is also a pilot, Grandma, Gary and myself are meeting him in about an hour. Clouds are low this morning, and I know things will go fine. Problem is I've flown with my dad hundereds of times....but it's a little different knowing your child is up in the air for a long flight by himself for the first time. Just hoping you could say a quick prayer for his safe trip and return home. It would help me out. Thanks Deb
BoomerCPO Posted June 11, 2009 #3 Posted June 11, 2009 Prayers and good thoughts sent your way! Boomer.....who knows that son is not concerned with his Mother's fears and will do fine with a big grin on his face.
Iowawegian Posted June 11, 2009 Author #4 Posted June 11, 2009 :bawling: Thanks you guys! I don't know what's the matter with me today!! I know everything will be fine....and your right Boomer! I know he will climb out of that plane with a huge smile on face! Iowawegian......who gets sappier about her kids everyday.
Lone Eagle Posted June 11, 2009 #5 Posted June 11, 2009 Good luck to your son - he will have a HUGE grin on his face - must be exciting for all.
kbran Posted June 11, 2009 #6 Posted June 11, 2009 YOu got it. And yes he'll be grinnning, (from one pilot to the other).
MiCarl Posted June 11, 2009 #7 Posted June 11, 2009 I assume you're worried about his drive to the originating airport because that will be the most dangerous part of the trip.........
mini-muffin Posted June 11, 2009 #8 Posted June 11, 2009 It doesn't matter how old they are we still worry. He'll do fine and you'll get through this. Just hang tough it's like the first time he took a step without you holding his hand. Margaret
Iowawegian Posted June 11, 2009 Author #9 Posted June 11, 2009 Thank you so much for your prayers!! He made it up and back and everything went great! My grandfather was a pilot, then my father and now my son! How cool is that! We have a pix of when Joey was just a little boy standing next to Grandpa by his Cessna and now I have a pix of him all grown up standing next to Grandpa!! Life is good! Your support means alot! Thank you again! Deb

There is nothing the matter with you, You are a MOTHER and what your feeling is right and natural. Prayers and best wishes sent your way, and as Boomer say's just be ready for that big smile when he steps back onto the ground and give him the biggest hug a mother ever gave a son.
Bubber Posted June 11, 2009 #12 Posted June 11, 2009 Does that mean he will be asking for the keys to the plane on Saturday night? Wow! That is a good problem to have!!! LOL Good on your son and the rest of the family to. Kids sure have a way of making life interesting don't they? Congrates to your son and keep your feet securly grounded they do have to grow up. Bubber aka Steve

Midnight Rider Posted June 14, 2009 #14 Posted June 14, 2009 I have been wanting to learn how to fly for a loooong time. It always seem to get put on the back burner. The way its going I will be to old to get to it. Dale
