Ummmm....Why do ya'll wait so long to fill your tanks????:confused24::confused24::confused24:

Because I'd rather ride than continually stop! I know for certain after 85,000 miles on this bike that I have a minimum of 40 miles on reserve under virtually ALL circumstances. The ONLY times I have run out, I did it on purpose because I knew I had spare gas available and I wanted to push the limit.

So any time I know that I'm going to find gas within 30 miles, I will keep riding until I am on reserve, and then I'll probably use some of that too. Just seems kinda stupid not to. If you wanna fill up at 1/2 a tank, or 1/4, or whatever, then be my guest. But I don't wanna.

Traveling with two guys with GPS's. showed a gas station, just off the ramp.had to stop someone and ask where the station was.

back tracked 19 miles.

showed up to the pumps.

Pumped 6.08 gallons 2/10th from empty

2 up with the trailer :doh: :no-no-no: I now carry 2.5 gallons, on all my trips:cool10:

First gens have a 5.3 gallon tank. Any more than that and the station is pouring a short gallon, and you're getting screwed. Gas volume will expand when it gets hot out of the pump and will take less to fill'r up. I generally run 150 miles, and start looking for a station. Not because I need gas... I have to pee..... :rotf:

Yep,,,what Condor said. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
