bossman Posted September 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted September 3, 2007 Greetings, I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I have a 86 Royale. I have been noticing lately when i goose the throttle their is a rattleing noise seems to be coming from underneath, or when I am going through the gears I hear it also. Checked bolts, fluids all ok. It is more noticable on the left side. Other then that it runs fine. Am thinking of going to Las Cruces in a couple of weeks . I was wondering if it is something I should be concerned with or if it could wait till I returned. Thank you . bossman:confused24:

It is not a must do right now, but the sound may get on your nerves. There are instructions here, on the repair. http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1002
SaltyDawg Posted September 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted September 3, 2007 Do you by chance have a trailer hitch on it? If so is the stinger in? It could be rattling. I had that happen to me and it sounded just like what you described. Now I know nothing about the 1st Gens but that's my experience with a rattle. Guest timshosvt Posted September 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted September 4, 2007 My rear heat shield on the exhaust had broken slightly free. The bolts were there and I dint notice any unusual movement, but it clearly vibrated and resonated. It wasn't much of a rattle though, it was a zzzzzing with a rattle at the end when the vibrations slowed down. Thanks to both of you. Checked hitch, ok there. I will do the exaust repair this coming weekend. bossman
Guest Popeye Posted September 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted September 4, 2007 I jacked up my 86 VR & the exhaust collector box had an irritating rattle on take-off only. Thought about fixin' it, but after several hundred miles, it just went quiet again. Since it doesn't hurt anything, I'll fix it [maybe] if it begins to rattle again. Seems like a whole lot of work, though.
