Noise from right rear

At exactly 64-68 mph, I get a clack-clack-clack sound from the right rear of bike. Approx. 120 times per minute. Can't find anything loose, speed specific, don't have anyone to ride next to me. It only does it at these speeds. Any ideas? New me880's w/2k on them, no bumps noticible on rear tire. I'm stumped!!!

Put on centerstand, ckeck for cracked or bent rotor using something straight. Make sure brake hardware is all there and caliper is centered over rotor.

may sound stupid, but maybe it's Time to lube the Speedo ?

Pull out the rear brake pads, and re apply some of that brake pad adhissive stuff ( avialable any auto parts store ) to the " Back " side of the pads ( between pad, and piston )

 

I had this happen on one of my front brakes, I put in new pads, and simply forgot to apply the goop . First ride around the block, and heard it clicking. Darn, stupid me.

 

This might be your problem.

Check the arm that the caliper mounts to Skid had a noise that turned out to be the pin slapping the arm while the nike was in motion.

Thanks guys, when I get done hanging drywall in the kitchen tonight (after 5 months remodel) I'll pull the rear caliper and check. Need to check pads anyway. Thanks again!

My bike does the same thing, except the noise is at any speed. Changed the rotor and pads a couple months ago. Couldn't stop the noise- looked at the rotor and seemed to have an awful lot of side to side movement for a new rotor. MAW sent me a new one. Put that one on , same thing. They sent me another, figuring may have been a bad shipment. I haven't put the new one on yet. Now I see that there is some kind of adhesive that I should have put on the back side of the pads? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't that take the slack out of the pads and make them ride tighter, thus cutting back on the noise I get from them and the rotor making contact when the brakes aren't applied? I understand that some noise is to be expected from a floating rotor, but it would be nice to quiet it down some.

What's weird is mine only does it at a specific speed, no other. Almost exactly at 65 mph. Weird, will check w/ straight edge, check pads, might be pads are just wore out allowing "floppy stuff".

Thanks again. Between the manual and you guys, I am learning what it takes to own these bikes, instead of just riding them. It is indeed a lifestyle, and I like it!

Forgot, just got done with the kitchen drywall. After 5 months of work, it's finally coming together.

WHilst riding to and from Fort Wayne today, with it clacking, dumby me finally figured out to tap the rear brake pedal. Any guesses as to what went away? Checked pads at rest stop, just flopping around in the caliper. Picked up the black "goo" from A-Zone, will put it on tonight.
