Guest Jimesaj Posted September 2, 2007 #4 Posted September 2, 2007 a trike, but it just isn't me...and I have made it a point not to ride for three days now and feel so much better...it gets depressing hurting all the time...
Squidley Posted September 3, 2007 #5 Posted September 3, 2007 Wish it was different for you, I'm not sure that I could hang it up myself. Best of luck in getting it sold...be safe
Guest Jimesaj Posted September 4, 2007 #6 Posted September 4, 2007 for all the well wishes...I have been fighting quitting for a few years now and tried a couple times...its like quitting cigarettes...no probably harder...I will probably get something old, used and in need of repairs down the road so I can work on it and ride it every once in awhile...I have two interested and one coming this week from a couple hundred miles...he is very interested and has an FJR already so he is a Yamaha guy...ride safe! The other might fly up from Los Angeles.
KiteSquid Posted September 4, 2007 #7 Posted September 4, 2007 Have you talked to your orthopedic surgeon about Synvisc for your knees? I am toying with it for my left knee.........
Snarley Bill Posted September 4, 2007 #8 Posted September 4, 2007 i know where your coming from jim.after the arkansas meet i'm thinking about a lighter bike because of my knees.maybe you should try a v-star,so you can hang with us.bill
Guest Jimesaj Posted September 7, 2007 #9 Posted September 7, 2007 Hi kitesquid...I have not talked to my dr about any surgery, I want to do what I can to feel better and make it another five years or so before I start getting cut up...I was feeling REALLY good this morning and decided to ride to work...I was in pain all morning and decided to take a bottle of motrin this afternoon, an hour later I was feeling GREAT...got on the bike to head home and could feel it after a couple miles, got home and was in pain for awhile but feel better now...I wish I could keep riding, but it is definitely hurting me. I usually feel better after going for a walk, things loosen up and feel better...but something about riding makes it hurt. So the RSV is still definitely for sale and I have lowered the price to 14,750.00 what a deal...the thing is brand new with extras... It is mostly my left knee, from falling on it a million times while racing, and doing a lot of hard physical work also...I will have to research the synvisc you mention...is that a knee replacement? How long have you been hurting?
Bvinson Posted September 8, 2007 #10 Posted September 8, 2007 I am thinking of giving it up also. I had my knees replaced 5 years ago. I get around a lot better now but I have a hard time trusting them when riding 2 up on the Venture. If it just happened to lean just a little in the wrong direction Loookout. I darn sure don't want to go thru any more replacements until I have to.
Condor Posted September 8, 2007 #11 Posted September 8, 2007 It is mostly my left knee, from falling on it a million times while racing, and doing a lot of hard physical work also...I will have to research the synvisc you mention...is that a knee replacement? How long have you been hurting? We... my wife.. just went thru knee replacement surgery. Both of her knees were bone on bone. She'd been getting Cortazone shots every 6 months prior to the surgery, and before that she went thru an injection treatment called Suparts. Once a week injections for 6 weeks straight. Lots of people swear by it, and others at it.... You might mention it to your Doc and see if you might be a candidate. With the cortizones she was good for 4-5 months pain free. Basically they were putting her off untill she turned 65. That seems to be the age that works. Anyway there's lots of treatments out there. One's gotta let you keep riding....
gdebruin123 Posted September 8, 2007 #12 Posted September 8, 2007 Jim, I am sorry to hear you have to stop riding. In the exchanges we had you had mentioned this but was hoping the rest would help. I am sure you will have no problem selling the bike. Take care and keep in touch.
