Mark Koontz Posted June 8, 2009 #1 Posted June 8, 2009 I can't see how this connection is supposed to happen (front pipes). (My bike came to me with fiberglass fabric and rolled-around shim material.) My center-section (cross-over) maybe incomplete, but it comes forward about 1.5 inches intil a slight bead (and no further). The pipes come down and butt against the little stub pipe. I just bought the (fiber?) sleeves and new outside clamps... But the sleaves seem too small to go over the beads on the center section. What am I missing here? HELP? Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS
Venturous Randy Posted June 8, 2009 #2 Posted June 8, 2009 Are you referring to the Silverado or the 83 Venture? RandyA
Mark Koontz Posted June 8, 2009 Author #3 Posted June 8, 2009 I'm asking about the '83 Venture (v-4). Thanks, mk.
Venturous Randy Posted June 8, 2009 #4 Posted June 8, 2009 It sounds like someone has put together something that is not stock. I sounds like the tubes that come out of the collector have broken off. Can you take a picture and post it? RandyA
Mark Koontz Posted June 8, 2009 Author #5 Posted June 8, 2009 I think you might be right, Randya- There's no "cut-backs" in my system. And I now think those recieving parts are broken off. Do you think there's some kind of heater hose (flexible) that I could slide over the outside of this joint? I'm trying to button it up without taking this exhaust out of the bike... After all, I don't know what I might run into- Thanks, mk.
Venturous Randy Posted June 8, 2009 #6 Posted June 8, 2009 Mark, if you go to this post, you can see what the collector is supposed to look like, after it is put back together. Does this look like your's? RandyA http://www.venturerider.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1002
Mark Koontz Posted June 9, 2009 Author #7 Posted June 9, 2009 No- I'm broke, man. Does anybody have a "center section" they would be willing to part with? (I'm trying to get ready for Star Days in July) Thanks, Mark Koontz '83 Venture Wichita, KS:Venture:
jasonm. Posted June 10, 2009 #8 Posted June 10, 2009 sorry, I sold my spare to a guy in England. The baffle(rattle plate) removed. I hope I don't regret it in the future. Look on Ebay. I saw one there a month ago.
