I need to get new tires and I want to change to WWW. I looked at the info here and decided I wanted to try the Avons but I was told by a dealer that the one suggested by this site for the Venture is no longer available in WWW. (correct weight ratings) V rating is all that is available.

Who has WWW tires?

What kind?

Sizes? F/R?

How do you like them?

Should I get the 130 Avon WWW and then a different brand rear WWW?

How about Dunlops WWW?

I hear good things about the E 3's but cant find them listed in WWW. I need to order them this week as I am getting low on tread with inspections coming up plus I just had to plug the rear?

What is the difference in a 150/90 b15 80h and a 170/80-hb15 (the avon in www that I can find).

Should I get the Dunlop 404 in WWW rear and the Avon mt90B 16 74 h front tire in WWW or should/Can I use the Avon AM42 170/80-hb 15?

All replys appreciated!!

Avon doesnt make the WWW but Do on the 130 size. Dunlops 404 has them but I do not like the way they ride on the roads around here that are grooved out..they go all over the road. I have Avons but stock size and bought a set of Elite3s (Nothing against e3s just havin second thoughts) I have in the garage but I may go ahead and order Avons agin as I have had such good luck with them .

When I first got my bike, it needed a rear tire and in my ignorance and luck of the draw I ended up with a BW 404. I didn't think WWW then, because the front tire, a Brickstone, was almost new. 2000 miles later I started noticing some minor sidewall cracking in the front (B/S). I also had joined the group here and learned the consensus of opinion about the Brickstones. So, for my peace of mind I started looking for a new front tire. I knew I wanted a WWW and all I could find was the 404, so, I bought it. Now I have a matched set, brand wise. When the rear wears out I'll go with a WWW on it, as they really make this bike look good.

I guess it is that I don't know any better, but the bike to me handles and rides very well on the 404s. I know it is better at low speed without the Brickstone. So, maybe ignorance (on my part) is bliss!!!

Beware of low mileage on the 404's. Expect 5000 miles, tops, on this rear tire.

I'm not sure how many sets of 404s you've run but I went through 5 sets and the worst mileage I got was 7500 miles... and that was 2 up pulling a trailer... The best I got was 12,000... I really liked the 404s handling and price... On the flipside I tried 1 set of Avons and only got 7500 out of a rear reinforced and did not like the handling on wet roads...

Now I got a Kumho car tire on the back with 18000 and still has plenty of tread..

You're not alone Wes... I like the 404s too... I think they handle better than the Bridgestones and the Avons...

Hmmm, for some reason the US Avon website is gone.. But the main UK factory website is still up and it still lists the proper tire.. 150/90/b15 80H,,

The V portion of the rating on the 150/90/b15 74V is a speed rating and it is rated for faster use than the H, the 74 is the load rating. And that is the same load rating as the stock Dunlop 404 150/90-15 74H.

74 rating is up to 827 lbs 80 rating is up to 992 lbs. Because I ride a fair amount two up and loaded, (probably overloaded) I prefer the higher load rating.

the H speed rating is for up to 130mph,, the V rating is up to 149mph.
