footsie Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I was running the nexen tire on my 2000 venture at 37 lbs with no problems, really could not tell it was a car tire, had the cobra radial on the frount. I am going to order the same for my 04 venture. I wonder if some may trying to run too much air. If you all say the bfg is better i'll try it, the 04 I just bought had the factory bridgestones on it and the bike only has 8800 miles, the tire are horriblily flat sided from sitting I guess. Gregg
Guest curtismiller Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 I just put a Kumha on my 07 RSV.Looked at the Nexen but liked the sidewall of the Kumha better.Started at 42 psi and now like 32 much better.May even try lower.Would like to hear what you finally decide on. The feel is doable but if I were in my airplane i would be kicking in a little oppisite rudder on the turns. lol curtis
footsie Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 The best thing I did on my 2000 rsv was putting the avon cobra radial on the fount, it made the car tire on back work great, the guy that owns my 2000 has put more miles on the nexum and he loves it. I am going to put the avon 150/80R16 cobra on the frount, and I was having such good luck with the nexum, I might put one on the 2004. I really believe the cobra on the frount does alot for these bikes. Gregg
BigBoyinMS Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 I've been running a Kumho at 40-42 lbs since I mounted it 3000 miles ago and as long as it feels like it does I'll probably stay there. I may try dropping pressure every trip just to see how it feels... and maybe not. These are pics from yesterday. http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/DSC01118.jpg http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/DSC01116.jpg http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/DSC01117.jpg http://i720.photobucket.com/albums/ww202/BigBoyinMS/DSC01115.jpg
footsie Posted June 9, 2009 Author Posted June 9, 2009 I like the tread on that tire, I might try one. Gregg
footsie Posted June 16, 2009 Author Posted June 16, 2009 I had ordered a classic radial, cooper built tire, liked the tread, but it blew when we tried to seat the bead. So I order the kumho like the pictures of it you posted. Will put it on this wednesday, I am going to run the frount tire for a while, before I order the Avon Cobra radial for the frount. freedom of the road for all. Gregg
footsie Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 Got the kumho on love it, running 36 lbs, no handling problems, I swear the only difference I can tell form the MC tire, is this tire rides a 100% better and the rear end is more stable in the curves, mc feel like they slip or slide in a hard curve, but the car tire seems to grip rock steady.
