mkrieg Posted June 4, 2009 #1 Posted June 4, 2009 I was out riding my scoot this afternoon and while sitting at a stop light, all of the lights and display on my radio started flashing, then the computer screen flashed a few times and the engine went dead. Any ideas on where I should start to look or what the problem may be. I dont want to be riding down the street and have the same thing happen again. When I turned the radio off and turned the ignition key a few times, everything came back.
Venturous Randy Posted June 4, 2009 #2 Posted June 4, 2009 Sounds very similar to what I am dealing with. I know my tach dropped instantly, even while I was going 30mph, but I am not real sure about the CMS screen. Hummm, that is something else to look for. Read my thread on TCI as there is a lot of good information suggested. Good luck and if you find anything, please share it. RandyA

You might want to check the key switch, sorta sounds like you maybe loosing key switch power, also do a check on all your main powers and grounds at battery and frame.
calperin Posted June 4, 2009 #4 Posted June 4, 2009 It sounds familiar to me. If you can, redo the soldier connectors behind the Tachmeter, or the instruments pannel. It seems that you have a false connection that make the radio or the instruments get crazy.
MiCarl Posted June 4, 2009 #6 Posted June 4, 2009 If you still have the stock fuse panel take a very close look at it. Not unusual for the spring clips to be failing at this age.
