a1bummer Posted June 2, 2009 #1 Posted June 2, 2009 What is it that is different between the rear footrests on a MKI & MKII? I think I read somewhere on here that the MKII footrests will not fit on the MKI. Is there a difference in the bolt pattern? Or is there something else obvious that I'm not seeing? Thanks, Bill
WiVR Posted June 2, 2009 #2 Posted June 2, 2009 It can be done. I put them on my 84 before I sold it. Involves some new bolts and spacers. Not difficult at all and works great. The group on this forum helped me out before the site crashed. I will see if I have any details otherwise I am sure someone here will jump in with the details.
Wizard765 Posted June 2, 2009 #3 Posted June 2, 2009 They will fit but you need to make a bracket to support your exhaust. I have MkII passenger rests on my 84 and the navigator loves them. On the Mk1 the exhaust is supported by the footrest bracket. Bongobobny helped me make brackets for mine and they work perfectly. Wayne
a1bummer Posted June 2, 2009 Author #4 Posted June 2, 2009 Thanks guys. I did find some pics of both. And they looked like they would bolt up. I did see that the exhaust might be a problem though. You guys have any pics of the way the exhaust was mounted?
WiVR Posted June 2, 2009 #5 Posted June 2, 2009 Bongo is your man. He may still have pictures of the process. The longer exhaust "hanger" bracket was made from basic aluminum barstock with a couple holes drilled. That was the toughest part.
bongobobny Posted June 3, 2009 #6 Posted June 3, 2009 I may even have a set of undrilled roughed out pieces laying around someplace...
