Royal Star Venture questions......

If you look for a used 2nd gen, remember there was a Carb Change around 2001 or 2001, ( not sure of exact year ) . Earlier ones had I believe 26MM carbs and the later had 32 MM carbs. There is a Horse Power Difference. It is substantial.

 

 

Are you sure about this? I know that the older Royal Stars ('96, 97??) had the smaller carbs, but thought Yamaha changed that in 99 when the Royal Star Venture was first released, and that since 99 there have been no changes except color.

Can anyone verify this?

The only thing that I wish the Venture had is a reverse,like the Gold Wing has.Other than

that,I can live with every thing else.Part of owning a bike is making it your own.It could

have a better stereo,guages,etc. but that would drive up the price.Most all that stuff

has been figured out by someone on this great site, and shared with the rest of the group. If you are mechanically inclined, you can pick and choose the options you want

and add them at a later time.

I think that web site is just a search engine trap with no real inside knowledge of anything. The Yamaha and Star web sites have nothing on the 2010 lineup yet, and I haven't seen anything yet elsewhere that looks factual.

 

 

Actually Mike, (Totalmotorcycle) at TMW is a super guy. That website is his only job, he gets everything directly from the manufacturers as soon as it's available for print. He doesn't have any links to those bikes on the list, so I imagine he's just getting the pages set up so he can link when the news comes. TMW is an incredible site with a ton of info and a a huge following of members. It is a totally free site, but myself and others have donated enough money to rid the site of it's advertising pop-ups.

 

You'll find me on the discussion forms with the alias of dr_bar, go figure, lol.

Mike's site is based in Calgary although who knows where the servers are. This past Feb, he upped the bandwidth on the site to 1 Terabyte/month to handle the volume of traffic he gets.
