RedRider Posted August 28, 2007 #1 Posted August 28, 2007 Is there any way to reduce the force required to pull in the clutch lever? It just seems harder than it should. RR
Tartan Terror Posted August 28, 2007 #2 Posted August 28, 2007 you havent done the clutch upgrade have you?
Eck Posted August 28, 2007 #3 Posted August 28, 2007 Suggestive things you could look at: (1) Is the fluid in the clutch master cyclinder a dark color? If so flush the entier system and replace with fresh fluid. (2) If the fluid is clear, then try bleeding your clutch system. (3) Also, you might put some oil on the hinge point of the lever. This should free it up unless there is something else wrong
RedRider Posted August 28, 2007 Author #4 Posted August 28, 2007 you havent done the clutch upgrade have you? No. I had the clutch replaced by the dealer in 2005 (before I started doing my own wrenching). I assume he replaced the springs with standard OEM parts. I have not changed the fluid in the clutch line. I did my brake lines earlier this year, but for some reason, I didn't do the clutch at the same time. I will put a drop of oil on the lever hinge pin and see if that helps. That sounds like a good job for the next rainy weekend. It's not so bad that it keeps me from riding. BTW, the clutch works fine, just harder to pull than I would expect. RR
BradT Posted August 29, 2007 #5 Posted August 29, 2007 I would think air would make it easier, maybe there is something binding on the pivot. Also is it possible the engine oil needs to be changed ? Brad
RedRider Posted August 29, 2007 Author #6 Posted August 29, 2007 Engine oil was changed with Mobil1 full synthetic earlier this summer. I will check a couple of other RSVs at VIP and see if it is the same. Been having trouble with my left elbow that may be translating into me being a whimp on the clutch. We shall see. RR

RR I was going to say that but thought it would not be nice. Now if you were Mr Owl, I may have said it and then some. Good luck on your findings Brad
