DragonRider Posted May 28, 2009 #1 Posted May 28, 2009 I had to go to the Dr. today, had to have an ingrown nail removed from my big toe, he had to do some slicing and dicing to get it all, so no work tomorrow, and no riding for a few days. What was really funny was the nurse saw my t shirt, motorcycle related, and said are you a biker, to which I replied yes, Do you ride a Harley, I answered that I didnt much care for them and got a hard look from the Dr. who was holding the scapel in his hand, turns out he rides a Harley springer, and a Kaw Vulcan, and we started talking bikes, tail of the dragon and things went smoothly after that, Thank God......That could have been ugly, making a Harley rider mad while he's slicing on my big toe with a sharp instrument....... But all is well, toe is fixed, just have to wait for it to heal, good news is I got a 3 day weekend out of it...........
big mike Posted May 28, 2009 #2 Posted May 28, 2009 GLAD TO HEAR YOU MADE IT OUT ALIVE AFTER THAT COMMENT! AT LEAST HE RIDES A SPRINGER...GUYS LIKE THAT BOUNCE BACK!!! SORRY KINDA LAME I KNOW. I HAD MY BIG TOE ON BOTH SIDES SLICED AND DICED ABOUT TEN YEARS AGO. WENT BACK TO WORK THE SAME DAY. YOU MAY GET AT LEAST ONE RIDE IN THIS WEEKEND, DON'T COUNT IT AS A TOTAL LOSS. GOOD LUCK
Sunman Posted May 28, 2009 #3 Posted May 28, 2009 Why no riding? We have heel AND toe shifters, and if it was your right foot...who needs brakes anyways?
Wrongway Posted May 28, 2009 #4 Posted May 28, 2009 Hey Lewis, how about this; I went to the Podiatrist today for routine follow up after my infection from last year. I casually mentioned a pain I had been having in my right foot. Well after some x-rays, found out I broke my foot! Doc says ok to ride as long as I wear good boots and put on my splint as soon as I stop and walk around. What a guy! So maint. day here I come!
Rottdoglover Posted May 28, 2009 #5 Posted May 28, 2009 If Doc was a die hard HD guy he wouldn't have a rice burner anywhere close, would he? Must wanted the best of both worlds. Fast heeling to you.
barend Posted May 28, 2009 #6 Posted May 28, 2009 Had that done some 25 years ago in the winter and then RODE home (650 Virago) 75 miles!! Did take a pill before I got out of town. In all fairness, the aftermath was not funny, all I could do to lay still on the floor and not scream!!
Dragonslayer Posted May 29, 2009 #7 Posted May 29, 2009 Lewis, I'm sorry your big toe is sore, But, I'm happy you got three days off. Too bad you won't be able to ride though. It's good you didn't insult the Dr. to much where he could have made a bigger incision. But, you do have three days off, and the weather is sposed to be great. Primo bike riding weather. Gee, sucks to be you this weekend. Hope you get better soon. I'll be thinking about you while I'm riding this weekend.
Snarley Bill Posted May 29, 2009 #8 Posted May 29, 2009 hey lewis, i'll ride a few miles for you this weekend. heal up quick buddy. bill
Skid Posted May 29, 2009 #9 Posted May 29, 2009 Open mouth and insert foot, sounds like you better count your toes... Hope you get back on your feet soon Lew, just be careful next time.
Blackjack Posted May 29, 2009 #10 Posted May 29, 2009 Well, my friend, you came dangerously close to finding out the price one pays for throwing out a negative opinion in the world, which, after all, no one wants to hear and can be too easily construed to be insulting. And with a scalpel in his hand... The much safer approach would have been to say: Well, actually, I have two Yamaha motorcycles. Why? Do you ride a Harley? Maybe you got sliced up more than you know... TERRY
DragonRider Posted May 29, 2009 Author #11 Posted May 29, 2009 This one seems to hurt more than the last one, from what I remember............didnt get much sleep last nite:crying: due to the throbbing in my toe, but it will be much better for my ride to MD next week.......didnt want to make that ride with a sore toe............ Well, my friend, you came dangerously close to finding out the price one pays for throwing out a negative opinion in the world, which, after all, no one wants to hear and can be too easily construed to be insulting.
