Bobby G Posted May 28, 2009 #1 Posted May 28, 2009 Not anything I'd ride cross country, but I got a sneaky peek at it this week, and it's unlike anything I've ever seen. 193 HP, only 405 lbs., ABS and Dynamic Traction Control (DTC), 4 different power modes, central ram air intake, two injectors per cylinder, and a rev range that peaks at 14,200 RPM. Heard that it will sell for about $17K, maybe a little less. It is truly a piece of work. http://www.s1000rr.com Check it out. Might just be my "second" scoot!
RandyR Posted May 28, 2009 #2 Posted May 28, 2009 I wouldn't ride it. Too much power/weight. I'd be dead in a month. That said, the engineering in the engine is top notch. I think this engine in a detuned 100hp version would make a great power plant for a touring machine with comfortable seat, fairing, and large fuel tank. I think the next significant engineering milestone for motorcycle companies that want to stay in business will be to build a 90hp 700pound 2-up touring machine with bags and fairing that gets 60+ miles per gallon of fuel.
Cerviperus Posted May 28, 2009 #4 Posted May 28, 2009 Oh, and here is the US site for it with it's specs... http://www.bmwmotorcycles.com/us/en/individual/news/index.html?id=145
GeorgeS Posted May 28, 2009 #5 Posted May 28, 2009 No windshield. Just another version of a Busa. I can find lots of good used Busa's for about 5 to 6 K And a lot more HP. Sorry Bemmmmer
Cerviperus Posted May 28, 2009 #6 Posted May 28, 2009 IMO... a Busa is nice... if you want to go fast in a straight line.
Carbon_One Posted May 28, 2009 #7 Posted May 28, 2009 Now we know what can be done with these antiques when put to pasture. Larry
