I have this hose end sticking out of the left hand side of my 88 VR ( California edition. It comes from within the engine's V, and is on off-shoot of a vertical rubber hose. It one of 2 or 3 hoses that come off of it.

That is my finger pointing back towards where the hose comes from.

That looks like the one that goes to the bottom of the airbox its for the crankcase breather system. Pain in the butt to put on. There a plastic nipple on the bottom of the airbox to put it on. So you have a vacuum leak if thats not put on.

I think you were on the money. I found a nipple on the underside of the airbox that lined up with that hose perfectly.

It was hidden from view by a large bunch of wires. I never would have seen it without you telling me to look up there.

Thanks.

While tracking down an oil leak, I removed my airbox. Luckily it seems as though I was successful with the oil leak. While I was down there I re-shimmed the carb needles, and happily found that my diaphrams seem to be OK.

Unfortunately while getting ready to button it back up together, I spotted another hose issue. These pics are from the seat shooting forward. See the set of hoses in the "H" pattern that lead up toward this gold colored thingie, which seems to have an fitting in search of a hose.

This last shot is from down low, just above the carbs, looking up. I know this hose end is in a similar location to the one that I used to hook the stray hose up to on the underside of the air box. There are now 2 nipples facing downward close by eachother, and I only have one hose to hook on. :crying: Any help is appreciated.

You have two hoses to your air box as part of the crankcase vent system. You hooked the forward (smaller one) up already. Now look at the bottom of your air box. Note the large nipple at the rear of the box, in the middle of the back carbs. That hose goes there. The other 'nipple' you note is part of the smog system and vents to the atmosphere, nothing goes on it.
