Skid Posted May 21, 2009 #2 Posted May 21, 2009 This is the first Memorial Day weekend I've had off in 19+ years. I'm beginning to really like this new position.....
Sylvester Posted May 21, 2009 #3 Posted May 21, 2009 I will spend Friday riding my bike to Washington DC with flags proudly displayed. Saturday I will go to the VA hospital and visit each and every room to thank the soldiers for their service and sacrifice. In the afternoon I will visit the tomb of the unknown soldier. I will ride into town Saturday evening to visit the memorials of our fallen soldiers. Sunday I will awake early and meet tens of thousands of like minded souls in the Pentagon parking lot and then ride in formation past the Marine at attention to the Lincoln Memorial. I will then cry when Jerry is presented in his tiger cage (a true POW who survived Viet Nam). After many dignitary speeches I hope to see Nancy Sinatra and Paul Revere and the Raiders again. I will get back to the motel late. I will have cried alot, felt horrible alot, had very few happy moments and sleep poorly. I will get up early Monday and head back home. I will look forward to doing it again next year like I have so many years in the past. This is not a weekend for me. It is a weekend for "THEM"
bongobobny Posted May 21, 2009 #4 Posted May 21, 2009 Hopefully heading to Marcarl's annual event in Brantford, Ontario. I took a day of vacation today, and we have a 4 day weekend where I work, so hopefully I will wrap up my wiring issue today and be riding tomorrow!!! Don't have to go back to work until Tuesday...
mini-muffin Posted May 21, 2009 #5 Posted May 21, 2009 Friday we'll be heading to NY for my nieces first communion which is sat. Probably pick up some food stuff while we're there and head home on monday. Most folks will be heading south while we're going north and vice versa on monday. Margaret
Dano Posted May 21, 2009 #6 Posted May 21, 2009 Wanted to leave for camping in NE Ohio on Friday, son now has a game on Friday night and a 4 team tournament on Saturday so we probably won't make it over there till Saturday nite. Oh well, 2 days is better than none!
rod Posted May 21, 2009 #7 Posted May 21, 2009 We are going camping in Idellwild for 4 days. No bike this trip as we are bringing the grandson. Have a great weekend. Rod

scubarider Posted May 21, 2009 #12 Posted May 21, 2009 Heading out on the Blue Ridge Parkway and where it leads us we will end up. I love those trips!!! Dennis
similost Posted May 21, 2009 #13 Posted May 21, 2009 I'm getting outta the DC area because of the ride to the wall and tragic traffic Memorial weekend brings to the area.. Done it a few years, and that was enough. It's a madhouse.. SO.. loading up the trailer with all the camping gear and attaching it to the bike.. Heading to Scottsville VA and camping on the James River. Gonna float down it Sunday... Take a ride Saturday to Scottsville and visit the Dew Drop Inn, and then head over to Schuyler VA and see the Walton's house.. Nothing real special for sightseeing, but a lot of really great back roads, good camp food and beers, and a river and wildlife for music..
jburrell Posted May 21, 2009 #14 Posted May 21, 2009 We are taking Friday off and about 60 of us are going to ride the 3 Twisted Sisters near Bandera Texas. Plan on stopping at Garner State Park while down that way too. Gonna be a nice 4 day weekend :sign woo hoo:
Sailor Posted May 21, 2009 #15 Posted May 21, 2009 Great riding weather here. 80 degrees and sunny. Now if only the darn grass would quit growing and some genie would double the size of my wood pile it would be perfect. I am going on the "Motorcycle ride for dad" to raise funds for prostate cancer research over in Victoria on Sunday. Last year, the first, they had 530 bikes out. This year they are expecting a lot more. Not bad for an island.
Guest Goneridin' Posted May 22, 2009 #16 Posted May 22, 2009 Saturday AM we will be joining a ride from Corning to Letchworth State Park for the day, obviously taking the scenic route rather than the highway. Sounds like there will be between 12 and 15 bikes in two groups led by separate road captains. Monday AM we will be joining the Endless Mountain HOG poker run with our group of 6-8 bikes. Never been in on a poker run so something new for wifey and me. Safe riding to all...holiday crazies are forecasted to be on the rise this weeekend!
pktexas Posted May 22, 2009 #17 Posted May 22, 2009 Leaving Houston tomorrow morning and riding to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 this sunday. Then ride and visit with relatives thru the week all over Indiana.

Venturous Randy Posted May 22, 2009 #19 Posted May 22, 2009 We have had absolutely beautiful weather here in east Tennessee and I will have at least a 7 day weekend and I can't ride. Doctor said NO MOTORCYCLE RIDING until I get my cataract surgery healed up. RandyA

I've been watching it pretty close. We're using James River Runners, and I just talked to them yesterday... They will still have their camp grounds open, so we can still camp. The river is down to 6.25 feet today, and they won't go until it's down to 5.5 feet, so it's getting closer. They did say they may take everyone to another part of the river if it's better there.. We might float.. might not... but we'll still be out camping and riding some great back roads.
