true4gm Posted May 19, 2009 #1 Posted May 19, 2009 does anyone know where i can find someone that repairs a computer for my dads 1983 venture in Illinoise?
true4gm Posted May 19, 2009 Author #3 Posted May 19, 2009 the computer is fried, only 1 ignition coil gets power, the rest 3 coils dont get any. i opend it up and some of the transistors or resistors were fried. and its a second computer that i spend like $110 bucks on it from Ebay.... just wanted to know if anyone has it or anyone that know how to fix it.? thannk you for responding. my dad wants to fire it up so bad,
barend Posted May 19, 2009 #4 Posted May 19, 2009 My '83 fired up without the module installed. Not saying it should, but it does. MY CPM is also cutting out again, presumably due to a poor connection in back; biker runs fine though. Just thought you (he) might want to know and just go out and ride.
true4gm Posted May 20, 2009 Author #5 Posted May 20, 2009 so your saying i really dont need the cdi, how do i connect the coils to the ? the crankshft? i want want the engine with out the computer?
barend Posted May 20, 2009 #6 Posted May 20, 2009 Beats me Dan, I'm just telling me mine runs without the computer on.
true4gm Posted May 20, 2009 Author #7 Posted May 20, 2009 well here are some pictures on the computer
timgray Posted May 20, 2009 #9 Posted May 20, 2009 well here are some pictures on the computer first that's not a computer. It's an Ignition CDI module that module is unrepairable. That much water damage is massive. The bike can not run without it. your only choice is to replace it. If you buy another one from ebay, demand the seller to show you photos of the inside, if they will not, dont buy it. P.S. they are up to $300.00 typically now on ebay. Note to others..... when was the last time you checked your Ignition system module and made sure it was dry and still seals up?
Snaggletooth Posted May 20, 2009 #10 Posted May 20, 2009 Anybody notice the number on the CDI? That's the wrong one for an '83. Should start with 26H for that model. '83 was different from all the other years. If it was any good it would start and run but the boost settings are different. true4gm......I sent you a PM.
