i came across an add for the V-STAR 950 TOURER in the paper yesterday.. it really seems like the kinda bike for me.. it has electronic fuel injection, v- twin,v windsheild, saddle bags, passenger backrest, and was selling new for under $9,000. does anyone here have one or know of someone who does ,and what do they think? I was thinking that this might be the answer when wanting to downsize to a easier to handle bike.. whats your thoughts?:cool10:

The March/April issue of Roadrunner magazine had a review of the 950 tourer.

In summary, they loved it! The reviewer said that it rode and handled better than any other cruiser he'd ever tested except for the Roadliner/Stratoliner and it was on par with those. Two complaints he noted: limited ground clearance - hard parts scraped with only moderate lean angles - and engine vibration in the floorboards above 70 mph. The handlebars are rubber mounted so there is no vibration there.

All in all, they said it was the best value on the market for a touring equipped cruiser.

Hope this helps.

I've seen the specs on the 950 tourer and thought it might be a good machine sometime in the future. It has a belt drive rather than a shaft. I wanted to take a test drive on one during a demo day locally a couple weeks ago, but had a last minute change of plans and couldn't ride it.

Good morning Garry;

When I was shopping for a new bike I looked at the 950T but went with the 1300 instead because the 1300 is watercooled,has counted ballencers, twin disk brakes in front and more power. Love my 1300T, got close to 1000 Kls on it so far. Too bad yamaha can't make the venture hande like the 1300. Just my 2 cents

Don't know if I will be fit to make the ride to PIP yet. hope so.

Ride safe Bob.

i would go with the 1300 tourer. if you shop aroung you can get one for under $10,000. try ebay. i really like mine and have done a 550 mile day on it with oem seat no problem. only complaint i have, is primary gear noise. but it's not like the dreaded chirp. you get so much more bike for the money then the 950. handling is almost sport bike like. hard to keep from draging the boards. it loves the curves. i just put avon venoms on mine and it added even more to the handling. bill
