Eck Posted May 15, 2009 #2 Posted May 15, 2009 Give me a shout if you need help installing them. I'll bring my hammer.....
RandyR Posted May 15, 2009 #3 Posted May 15, 2009 out of curiosity, has anyone ever had the gendarmes ticket/warn them about having BLUE lights installed. Particularly ones that blink? btw. I'm looking to add some lighting to the back of my 08 RSTD, so am keeping my eyes peeled. $13.49 for a 12 inch flexible strip might just be the thing. At least its cheap, even if I eventually put something else on.
yamahamer Posted May 15, 2009 #4 Posted May 15, 2009 I bought a set of these a few weeks ago. Good kit Great price and easy to install. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/20-LED-BLUE-MOTORCYCLE-ACCENT-LIGHT-KIT-Wiring-Harness_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1171Q7c66Q3a2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a0Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem5d243fd943QQitemZ400040122691QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

I've had a few friends that got hassled for riding with those colors.. Other people I know and myself with other colors haven't really had any issues that I know of... I ride with Black light LEDs on and never been stopped, and have ridden past many a cop with them on.
PRAIRIECOOT Posted May 15, 2009 #6 Posted May 15, 2009 (edited) for the strip lights --- here is a link --I have bought and installed makes a million percent improvement on the rear view and they are about 7.00 per red strip http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-bin/store/commerce.cgi?product=ACCENTS Merv:thumbsup: Edited May 15, 2009 by PRAIRIECOOT
Yammer Dan Posted May 15, 2009 #7 Posted May 15, 2009 Wally-World has some now. About a 12 in strip for less than 10 bucks. A red one tied into the brake on the rear might keep me from getting run over again.
CMIKE Posted May 15, 2009 #8 Posted May 15, 2009 I ride with Black light LEDs on and never been stopped, and have ridden past many a cop with them on. Black light LED's...where you find them? I always liked a black light. I need to see them.
similost Posted May 15, 2009 #9 Posted May 15, 2009 Black light LED's...where you find them? I always liked a black light. I need to see them. I get them from a friend here in VA.. I know if you search around on the web for UV leds you can find them too... some sites have purple, but that is not the true UV or black light..

In many states blue lights on any vehicle are illegal for obvious reasons. The officers were just doing their jobs if they stopped them. Now red lights, at least on the back of the bike should be no problem.

Red is OK on the back, but the cops don't like them lighting up the whole bike.. for obvious reasons..
YamaDuck Posted May 16, 2009 #13 Posted May 16, 2009 Here in Ga. blue lights are illegal. I read the state code. It did not say anything about red but I would stay away from red around anything but the rear of the bike. The state code did not mention red but I did not read each city code that is in the state. The county I live in the police use blue and red on there patrol cars so I would not be surprised in my county that there would be a code against red. Of course as long as you don't ride with them on you can have any color you want.
