T.J. Posted May 15, 2009 #26 Posted May 15, 2009 I will try and meet up with you at that time also. What is at exit 15? Gas station? Food place yum, yum.? That time line would be fine and no it's not too early. I figured we'd see what time you folks would be attempting the river crossing and knowing approximately how long it takes to go from there to exit 15 we would plan accordingly. I also realize that that getting across can be either a breeze or a royal pain, depending on volume of traffic and such. Larry BTW: We booked our room at the Super 8 for Friday & Saturday. The Oberlin hotel had rooms available yet but no non-smoking ones.
Yammer Dan Posted May 15, 2009 #27 Posted May 15, 2009 My bike is still down and time is flying. I WILL GET IT!! This work stuff is getting old!!
ibents Posted May 16, 2009 #28 Posted May 16, 2009 I will try and meet up with you at that time also. What is at exit 15? Gas station? Food place yum, yum.? Be good to see you again TJ, I imagine there should be something at the exit! Ian
Carbon_One Posted May 16, 2009 #29 Posted May 16, 2009 Be good to see you again TJ, I imagine there should be something at the exit! Ian There's a Pilot gas/service center just to the right of the exit ramp after getting off I-75. There's also a couple of other gas stations and restrauants nearby as well. The Pilot station makes a nice meeting location cause you can see anyone coming off that exit ramp as well as they being able to see anyone parked. I'll get a better list of what places are there. I think there's a Denny's and a Big Boy restrauant if anyone wanting to grab breakfast/lunch/whatever. Larry

Probably a good idea to grab a quick breakfast while we're all there, if that's ok with everyone else. If not, a washroom break at least! We'll see you there. randy:pushups:
T.J. Posted May 31, 2009 #31 Posted May 31, 2009 Just bumping this up. There has to be some Michigander's going down on Fri ! Have'nt heard from any yet! Hal, Looking forward to seeing you and Gayle again, Also Lonna, don't forget my Cherry cheese cake. Ian Just checking to see if this idea and time frame is still a go at Exit 15 in Michigan?
Carbon_One Posted May 31, 2009 #32 Posted May 31, 2009 Just checking to see if this idea and time frame is still a go at Exit 15 in Michigan? It is by me. If anyone thinks that that time will be changed let me know. My phone number is in my profile here on the site. We just got back from checking out that area to see what there were in facilities there. Two gas stations -- A Pilot gas station just down the street and a TA service center right at the exit corner. Across the street is a Big Boy restaurant and a Denny's next door. Set further back behind the Big Boy is a Cracker Barrel restaurant. Any one of those three restaurants are fine by us. I'll let you all chose what you prefer there. I'll be waiting for everyone to arrive in the parking area in front of the TA Service Center. Larry
T.J. Posted May 31, 2009 #33 Posted May 31, 2009 Ok Larry, We will be there at 9:00am at the TA Service Center at EXIT 15 off I-75. I am bringing a friend named Bill. I would like to eat at Denny's but what ever most people want will be ok. If it is raining my friend will stay home, but I will still plan on coming. I have reservations at the Oberlin Inn. See you all real soon.
Pappa Bear Posted May 31, 2009 #34 Posted May 31, 2009 When we get there do we check in with someone to find out about details on where to be to work on what, and also what is the tire changer drinking? I know i can fit alot of cold liquid in the saddlebag I'll be taking off!!!! Just need to know his or her liquid of choice. One more question, will there be a donation box set up someplace there? I was gonna pay to have it changed anyway, may as well donate that toward something good. I have heard there are pond monsters in the area!!!!

Larry, TJ, We will meet you at Exit 15 between 9 and 9:30, I have to talk to Randy yet but I think we would cross the bridge about 8am it shouldn't take an hour to get to Monroe...should it...? So we'll see you there. For anyone else going at that time you know where we'll be. Ian

Just get there and then let me or Kent (V7Goose) or Brad on ONE of us know. It's pretty informal. We are going to try and be a bit more organized this year. There will be a donation can for food and whatever else you wish to donate for.

Ian Ian it's only about 33-35 miles from the bridge to the exit 15 so on a good day you're looking at about 45 minutes - 1 hour tops if dodging those construction cones. Speaking of: I know I-75 south of the bridge has been under construction and what detours they have in place I don't know. They may have signs up wanting to take you west on I-94 to I-275 and then back to I-75. Going that way is way out of the way thou. You'd be better off taking secondary roads and reconnecting on I-75 past the construction zone. I'll see if I can find out more on this before Friday. Larry Edited June 1, 2009 by Carbon_One
saddlebum Posted June 1, 2009 #38 Posted June 1, 2009 Wow, somebody is all excited about heading out, I'd say,,,,,,,,normally, that's if anything can be normal aorund here,, things like this don't post up until the day before or maybe 2 days before,,,,,,, man, and we've still got 3 and a half weeks to go. Any how, Marcarl, Wizard765, Joopster and who knows who else are going out on Friday and heading out for Buffalo, cross the border there,, beer up in Erie somewhere and then move in on the party about 10 Saturday morning. We hope to be in Erie around sundown, could be though that it maybe somewhat later,, we planned that last year but had a few non-1st-genners with us and one wanted soooo bad to be a harley,,,and another ended up with a skin problem and that was a harley. Was all good on my side though, had a very pretty 13 year old in the passenger seat the whole time,, made me feel like I was a squirt once more. Hey Marcarl I am off all day fri so If I can hook up with you guys just give me a time and a place were i can meet up with you.

Larry Thanks Larry, I know its a mess around the bridge and bikes aren't allowed through the tunnel, so I guess we'll navigate it OK. Ian
gunkylump Posted June 1, 2009 Author #40 Posted June 1, 2009 Thanks Larry, I know its a mess around the bridge and bikes aren't allowed through the tunnel, so I guess we'll navigate it OK. Ian 8:00 a.m. at the Raunchy Ronnie's golden arches sounds good Ian, we can hop over the bridge from there. Are we eating when we meet up with the rest of the riders or carrying on as if we're normal? Either way is ok for me, we can always grab a Tim's sandwich and coffee on the way in to the meeting spot. Beth likes those, but enjoys sitting down and meeting and eating with folks as well, either way is okey-dokey. What night you coming out for a visit? Sad day for a Leamington rider yesterday, that just plain sucks. Damn cagers! Is Garry coming down with us, are we following the land yacht, or is he travelling otherwise? I'm not sure..... We put on just over 500 k's yesterday, a little chilly and windy at times, but a great day in all. The boss finally gave me the word that I have Friday off.....big deal :>), I was GONE anyways! See you one night this week! randy:thumbsup2:

Hey Don: Sorry to hijack the post....Beth has purchased her own bike, starting off small this year at least.....I'd like for her to have a full face "modular" helmet. Are there any decently priced retailers in your area? randy:shock3:
Gary N. Posted June 2, 2009 #43 Posted June 2, 2009 Is Garry coming down with us, are we following the land yacht, or is he travelling otherwise? I'm not sure..... randy:thumbsup2: Randy, turns out I have to meet my lawyer and a neurologist in Cleveland on Friday morning so I'm leaving here Thursday. You guys wouldn't have any fun trying to keep up with the shuttle anyway....LOL
