The new set of Michelin Commanders I put on the bike are impressive. The bike handles soooooo much better! I don't believe I will ever put a set of Dunlops on a bike ever again.

Today I rolled over 150 miles on the new tires and the little nubs are STILL in place on both of the tires......

Now all I gotta do is dial in the correct tire pressure to maximize the wear on these tires. Running 35psi on both tires now. Sidewalls on both tires say 41 psi max as taken cold.

My guess is if I run them at max sidewall pressure that pressure will be higher than 41 psi when the tires heat up and that puts them in a over-pressure state which would quickly wear out the center of the tires.

Any thoughts about this guys?

Boomer.......who's gonna run the twisties pretty hard this weekend for sure......and leaving the sipping whiskey at home too.:smile5:

I'd run em at 41psi. You set the pressure while the tires are cold and only check them when they are cold. Don't worry about the pressure when they're hot.

EXACTLY same fo Autos, ATV's, ECT... Measure Cold (in the a.m.) and don't worry after that!

The max tire pressure would be what you set them at at max load. Unless you are running at maximum load I would go with less pressure.

BOOMER// THAT NOW HAS MICHELINS~~~:12101:

I just installed my 6th set of commanders on my 03 rsv

i always run at the max tire setting cold, and yes they are at 41 psi cold

i have remote tire pressure and temp sensors inside both rims, so that i can make sure that they are always correct.and yes, they will go over a few pounds when hot, and thats normal, thats why they give you a cold setting.

I have had//

avons///never ever again

brickstones// cheap factory poor compound

metzlers// fair tire

dunlops// good tire

i will never run anything other than the michelins on any of my bikes, they aint cheap, but they more than pay for themselves in performance and longevity and danged if they don't stick in the twisties!!

mike//that likes the b/s that boomer dishes out..:buttkick:

Ok guys.....Before I head out in the morning I'll boost the pressure up to 41 psi in both tires and let the chips fall where they may.

Boomer.......who's putting his trust in the same group that he BS's a lot.:hihi:

Run 38 front and 41 rear. If you like them now wait until you get caught in a rainstorm. I got stuck in one a couple of weeks ago and was amazed at how well the bike handled. Very impressed!

If M/C tires act the same :puzzled: as the tires on my cages do with Nitrogen in them the temperature does not seem to affect the pressure. When I put the new front tire on to match the previously installed rear, I had Nitrogen put in them. Suposedly another advantage is that it does not leak through the rubber in the tires as does plain air. We'll see...:p

I run 78% nitrogen in my tires. It seems to be a good ratio for these bikes.

Me too. Seems like the 78% mix is the best value.

Any tire that is low air pressure will heat up faster and at a higher temperature. The tire rating basically states the max load only, does not mean to run the tire lower than the rated pressure.

I Always run at the rated pressures, just my two cents.

you guys crack me up!!!!!!!!

unless your on another planet????? your breathing 78% nitrogen now!!

yes, your are correct.. 78 seems like a good value........

thats what comes out of my air compressor too...wanna buy some??

:buttkick::rotfl:oh, and btw temp does change pressure, thats why they say to check them cold........:stickpoke: NITRO FOR SALE!! CHEAP!!!!:255:

True but a tire at max rated pressure that is not at the max rated load would be over inflated.

Well guys I've got a smokey moutain trip in 4 weeks and I have 18000 miles on my e2's. Time to rubber up. Could get more out of them but not gonna chance it.( gonna ride the dragon two up) My yamy dealer has an e2 ( one at a time)waiting for me when I get there at 9:00 this sat. morn. I know e2's are hard to find and yes I was shocked that they had TWO, one of em is mine. I'm happy that riding season is here i'll not pass up one last chance to have a 20000 mile tire back on the bike. :2cents:
