raceman62race Posted May 6, 2009 #2 Posted May 6, 2009 I think that is going to be a set of pipes off of a Harley Electra Glide
boominup Posted May 6, 2009 #3 Posted May 6, 2009 Does anyone know what type of pipes these are? Here is the number stamped on them HAR FLT 1584/1688.:think: Are they slash cut or straight like our OEMs? They may be from a Road King, but they all interchange. Brian
big mike Posted May 7, 2009 #5 Posted May 7, 2009 Does anyone know what type of pipes these are? Here is the number stamped on them HAR FLT 1584/1688.:think: I Googled your part number and came up with an FLHTCUI which is an ultra classic harley. Those pipes should slip on and work just fine for you. The 1584/1688 signify engine ci's....96ci for the 1584cc not sure about the 1688cc but these pipes will fit either and also our bikes. Good luck. P.S. I found this site helpful as far as the exhaust goes, some pictures, sound clips, and alot of info. YamaDuck Posted May 7, 2009 Author #6 Posted May 7, 2009 Thanks I'll check it out. The left pipe looks like it has a plug or something in it where the right side is open. Thats what concerns me. Thanks again
Tombo Posted May 7, 2009 #7 Posted May 7, 2009 The newer Harley pipes have a catalytic converter in one side, probably the one that looks plugged.
MidlifeVenture Posted May 7, 2009 #8 Posted May 7, 2009 Watch tat the one muffler isn't a dummy muffler usually the left one if the bike it came off of had a 2 into 1 exhaust they hang a empty muffler for looks.
Renne Posted May 17, 2009 #9 Posted May 17, 2009 I just completed my conversion last night with the FLT's, I made my own brackets, (I have a metal shop) They sound just fine! A nice tone at hwy speed and a distinct "CRACK" when you "throttle on". Not annoying at all and a far cry from the OEM's! "Kick stand up, Rubber down" Renne
