Idea for Maintenance Day

I've been thinking about MD this year. Last year Don and Eileen ordered food for the whole gang that came. I know they had the jar out and I think Don said it came out even for him. But since he's going through this treatment for cancer I have been thinking maybe we can take care of the food this year. All of us can pay so much towards the food and then Don won't have to worry about it. If need be one of us can take care of ordering the food for the day. I'm just thinking of how to make this an easier event for the Boss and his wife. I knew Don wouldn't cancel MD unless he really had to. So I waited and I've talked with a couple of other folks on the site about this. Not sure how we can make it easier for Don but I'm sure with this group we can come up with a plan that will work. I haven't asked Don before I started this thread. Maybe I should have, but knowing Don he'd have said not to worry about it.

We could even just all go out to eat though that might get a bit crazy with the size group we'll be having.

So let me know what you think folks. I'm hoping not to make anyone mad just trying to find a way to make it easier for Don and Eileen.

I'm a newbie here but I plan on attending MD in Oberlin if my new knee allows it. Also I'd be happy to kick in for food whether I make it or not. Perhaps a rolling food fund would be in order. Why does Don have to provide EVERYTHING ??

just mho

Folks...I appreciate the thought. Mini...you are the best. You better tell Jeff to watch out while he's gone...somebody will steal you away from him. :)

BUT....please don't worry about it. The food is already ordered. I just have to tell them the final count so again I'm asking everybody to go to the calendar and RSVP.

It's really no problem because we are going to do it the way we did last year. Have it DELIVERED. I THINK it was pretty good. The donation can worked out just fine and the dollars were very close. So this is really an easy way to do it.

I'm good with what ever you decide...although this will be my first MD...why not just set a price per head to attend? make sure everything is covered and then some....plastic wristbands are cheap...arrive, register, pay, get a wristband..have fun........have more fun and then before you leave have still more fun.... and a trip to the DQ.:fnd_(16)::fnd_(16)::fnd_(16):....p.s...did I mention have fun?

Good going Mini, if I lived closer I would not miss it. Don has given me ideas for my bike through some of his thread. Never met him or any of you people but from what I see and read here he tries to do it all. Hope everyone who can go will dig deep and help Don and Eileen on that day.

Thanks for the suggestions but we'll be OK. I hate setting a price per head. Everybody is welcome and everybody is welcome to eat. If there are those who aren't able to pay, that is fine. If somebody is just too tight to pay, that is fine too. :)

Yes it was a very nice thought mini. But you and I and whoever else wants to help can help Eileen in the kitchen. We will be the helpers.

How is that? We can help hand out the cheesecakes for Lonna.

Will you please tell us what the Per/Person Food amount is????? Then we can make sure we cover that at least? :confused24: I know you won't though:rasberry:

So we ALL need to keep in mind when we donate. What would a meal cost per person, then what is it worth to us to get to all meet up at Don's. Unfortunately I don't have enough money to pay what it is worth, so I just plan to give all I can.

.....Hey, I want some of Lonna's cheescake too. Can't make Don's, but maybe one of you would volunteer to save me a piece and bring it to "The Hub" when you come? Who could we trust to do that???

Not sure there's anyone you can trust to bring it to you. Might get an empty plate with a couple of crumbs on it, if you're lucky.:rotf::rotf:
