Bigfoot Posted May 5, 2009 #1 Posted May 5, 2009 I am in the process of trying to figure out how I will modify my 2004 RSV before taking off on my 30 day ride this August. I am not a good mechanic, hell I'm not even a good backyard mechanic. I'm looking for "Plug and play", if this is the right term, for front and rear lights. I'm looking at either adding passing lamps in the front or changing to a HID light for increased visibility. I don't ride at night so visibility to cagers is my biggest concern. I'm looking for some type of new lights for the rear-I guess a LED brake light and turn signals if they exist. I'm also looking to replace the stock horn if there is one that can be added without a lot of modifications needed. Also, (sorry) also looking to order brakes on line for the bike. I have someone who will help me put these on. I'd also appreciate suggestions on replacement tires and where the best place to order them. To summarize: Front lights: Passing lamps or new HID light? Rear lights: Horn: Tires: Front and rear brakes: Thanks all
slick97spirit Posted May 5, 2009 #2 Posted May 5, 2009 Bigfoot, Before ordering tires online, make sure you have someone in your area that will mount them for you. Sometimes that can be a problem. They get a little testy when you buy online instead of from them and then want them to mount them for you. I have one guy in my area that will do it. Most of the others wont.
Naked Rider Posted May 5, 2009 #3 Posted May 5, 2009 http://www.bikerhiway.com/ for lights and a stebil horn. i think it is www.sixty.com brakes real cheap

Bigfoot, If you have any problems getting tire put on check out this place in Stafford. http://www.samedaytirechange.com/ He is a member here (Breakingparts ...Ryan) i get my tires mounted there. I have a stebel horn they do get others attention http://www.bikerhiway.com/stebel-nautilus-compact-motorcycle-air-horn-chrome-p-807.html They are easy to install. Hale374 has a post here on how to install and you can make it easier by ordering Carbon one's bracket. I have 55K on my 04 and my front brakes are not worn. Now I'm on my 3rd set of rears though. I would check them out before buying them. If you need any help with these things give me a hollar
RedRider Posted May 6, 2009 #5 Posted May 6, 2009 +1 on the Stebel horn and the Carbon One bracket. The CO bracket can be found in the Classifieds section. Easy install and looks good too - and it is LOUD! RR

Bigfoot Posted May 6, 2009 Author #7 Posted May 6, 2009 Thanks for the suggestions so far. I'll definitely get the CO bracket. Does anyone know that if I switch to a LED light for the rear brake if I'll need to do anything with the wiring or will the current set up suffice? As far as tires being mounted I've been told Coleman Powersports in Woodbridge will install each for $30. Guess I should confirm.

I bought mine from Biker-hiway and it's bright. It just plugs into the normal bulb socket nothing else to do but put the lens cover back on. Here is the review I wrote up for it. http://www.venturerider.org/viewarticle.php?articleid=56
GeorgeS Posted May 6, 2009 #9 Posted May 6, 2009 If you install New Horns, Be sure to Install A Bosh Relay to control the horns. Stock Yamaha Horn circuit, does NOT, have a Relay. Wire's are only #18 and are NOT large enough to control a High Current After Market set of Horns. !!!! Driveing Lights, If you Install TWO new 35 Watt or Stronger lights, BE Sure to Install a RELAY, to control these new lights!!! Use #16 Wire, to wire up the New horn, and lights. Tires--- " Dunlop E-3 of Course !!! "
BigBoyinMS Posted May 6, 2009 #10 Posted May 6, 2009 And be sure that you mount the relay with the terminals pointing DOWN. Otherwise your horn will eventually stop working when the relay fills with water and the guts corrode.
