ibents Posted May 5, 2009 #26 Posted May 5, 2009 I use the AVG 8.5 version, I pay a small 2yr fee for this, but it is an upgrade from the AVG free version which I used before. I think it gives you a bit more of a security feeling. Ian
similost Posted May 5, 2009 #28 Posted May 5, 2009 Adaware is pretty good, but it doesn't remove a lot of malware as well as malwarebytes does..
stardbog Posted May 5, 2009 #29 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) Never say never... Always stay on top of the news... http://www.upi.com/Business_News/2009/04/22/Mac-users-note-new-computer-virus/UPI-73661240441079/ http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/01/another-mac-vir/ Yeah I'm hearing those stories for last 10 years. Downloding pirat software from web site isnt bright idea. Just copy of link you are send from wired.com "This might well be the first real security threat that OS X has seen. Or it may be a rather cynical cash-in on a harmless trojan. It could even be a complete set up. One thing we do know, though, is that you’d have to be a complete moron to download iWork 09 via BitTorrent " Edited May 5, 2009 by stardbog
similost Posted May 5, 2009 #30 Posted May 5, 2009 Yeah.. right now it's just a trojan that does take user action to install, but give it time.. As Mac gets more popular, more and more will be written... No OS is safe, you never can let your guard down no matter what you run. I run Linux on a box at home, but I'm always careful what I do with it too... Just as the OP stated, BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU CLICK... that's what a lot of it really boils down to...
