boominup Posted May 5, 2009 #1 Posted May 5, 2009 (edited) I just finished installing my Baron Tach on my 03 but I went a different route. After trying a minifaced tach, I wasn't too pleased with the looks plus it was so small, I had a hard time seeing it. This one was meant to install on a 1 in. handlebar but it also didn't fit right on the RSV because of limited space so I bought a Ram Mount # RAM-B-346CU which has a 1 in. ball to attach different accessories. I have all kinds of up, down, right and left adjustment. The face can be programmed with different colors and the green matches the speedo color pretty close. Check out the pix and let me know what you think. Brian Edited May 5, 2009 by boominup
RandyR Posted May 5, 2009 #2 Posted May 5, 2009 thanks. I just bought a Baron's tach and am not happy with the mounting angle on my 08-RSTD handlebars. I'll take a look at whats available from Ram Mount.
KAWoodworth Posted May 5, 2009 #3 Posted May 5, 2009 Does that Ram Mount # RAM-B-346CU mount on the top of your brake resivoir? In the picture is hard to see where it mounts.
Tartan Terror Posted May 5, 2009 #4 Posted May 5, 2009 Keep in mind that you can rotate the tach face inside the cup. I installed the same one on the resevoir mount and rotated the face inside it and its a very clean look. You can se it in the tech article on this site I put up.
OutlawRider Posted May 5, 2009 #5 Posted May 5, 2009 Good looking tach. You said you went with a little bigger tach. Do you have a part number.
boominup Posted May 5, 2009 Author #6 Posted May 5, 2009 Does that Ram Mount # RAM-B-346CU mount on the top of your brake resivoir? In the picture is hard to see where it mounts. It mounts on top of the resevoir cover with spacers and longer screws supplied. Wish I coulda got the bracket in chrome, though. Brian
Sideoftheroad Posted May 6, 2009 #7 Posted May 6, 2009 When I bought my bike, it already had the tach on it. How do you change the colors?
boominup Posted May 6, 2009 Author #8 Posted May 6, 2009 There is a switch with a button that was supplied with the tach. I mounted it next to the R/H controls. Not all Baron Tachs have that option. Brian
boominup Posted May 6, 2009 Author #9 Posted May 6, 2009 Good looking tach. You said you went with a little bigger tach. Do you have a part number. I'll find the box and give you the P/N. I got the thing quite a while ago but can't remember where I put the box. Brian
