Sideoftheroad Posted May 4, 2009 #1 Posted May 4, 2009 Dealer offered me a chance to test ride it, so I did. I had to ask them several times to make sure they were serious. They said yes, so off I went. Nice nimble little bike. Not sure I would would take it cross country or anything like that, but had fun. I think it would be good for putting around town on. But it did sit way too high for me. At least I could get 1 foot flat on the ground when I leaned over at a stop light. Probably could have gotten pulled over for unsafe start too or whatever they want to call it. I kinda hammered it at a stop light, but I will say that I didn't go over the speed limit, I just took the quickest route to get to the speed limit. http://www.metriccruisers.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif I looked over and sure enough there was a cop sitting on the side of the road, but they didn't do anything.
Sheradan Posted May 4, 2009 #2 Posted May 4, 2009 I have a 1992 Yamaha TDM. They were only in the US in 92 & 93. They still have them in Europe. It seems all the builders are now making copies, versys, v-strom etc.
N3FOL Posted May 4, 2009 #3 Posted May 4, 2009 Glad to hear you had a great time test riding the Versys. I am not a tall guy, so I assume the bike will be to tall for me. It is a Kawa isn't it?
SapperMedic Posted May 4, 2009 #4 Posted May 4, 2009 I got a 1989 Honda NX650 for $700 back in 2002, I loved it. Honda built them specifically for the Paris to Dakar rally but only from 88-92. I got a Troy Lee designs helmet decal set and "purtied it up". I put it up for sale in 05 for $1000 and sold it to the first guy who looked at it. After that I would occassionally check cycletrader to see if there were any for sale. Last year I saw MY BIKE for sale and the guy now wanted $1800.
rod Posted May 5, 2009 #5 Posted May 5, 2009 A dealer here has a TDM on the floor for..............$4,980. I liked it enough to look but not at that price. It has around 4,500 miles on it. Rod
