hydraulicman Posted May 3, 2009 #1 Posted May 3, 2009 OK its time to change to coolant 20,000 miles. You can buy it most anywere, but how do you get rid of the old coolant. Wal Mart, Auot zone, O'Rileys will not take the stuff. Does anyone know what to do with it. Thanks in advance
stroker ace Posted May 3, 2009 #2 Posted May 3, 2009 They take it here where you take off your trash. You use any water wetter or engine ice when you put new in ?
LilBeaver Posted May 3, 2009 #3 Posted May 3, 2009 I've taken mine to a local car dealership... Not all of them will take it from people that just walk in, but some do.
KiteSquid Posted May 4, 2009 #4 Posted May 4, 2009 It costs them to dispose of it. You should call your city or county government office to see where there is a public waste collection point, or it might be illegal for those places listed above to turn you away... Here in King George County VA, I can go to two Convenience Centers to recycle used coolant, trans fluid, engine oil and batteries. Also Twice a year they have a Hazardous Materials collection day at one of the convenience centers, so I can drop off excess paint and other household chemicals.
hydraulicman Posted May 4, 2009 Author #5 Posted May 4, 2009 Thanks for the reply's, I have check the City's web sight and they do take coolant and many other fluids.
