1BigDog Posted May 1, 2009 #26 Posted May 1, 2009 I had built two years back, but went with a store bought, this time round. I was one of the riders that pioneered trailering, I even made my 1st hitch At least you didnt say you invented the internet too!! :rotfl: Nice looking trailer by the way....I like the hammered paint on it. Matches the 99 well. Maybe it will give me some inspiration to finally put together my H/F kit thats been in the garage for about a year.
99silver Posted May 4, 2009 Author #27 Posted May 4, 2009 Jeff, Take your time and do your research, its not that hard ! I used the Rustoleum that dries in 24 hrs it was a dollar more a can but it chips real easy. Save a buck and use the stuff that says completely cures in 48 hrs and you might get better durability. Gary

Gary Did you do any sanding or use a primer before you painted it?
99silver Posted May 5, 2009 Author #29 Posted May 5, 2009 Jeff, I did all the prep work, it was just a very hard surface kind of like ceramic or some thing, very brittle like glass. I went to school for autobody repair and painted for a living for close to 10 years. I just wasn't happy with the product, maybe the 48 hour cure has a different makeup. just the slightest touch and it chips. Gary
