A couple of weeks ago I posted about how proud I am of our oldest son. Since he was a little boy he has wanted to get his pilots license and he finally started taking lessons. My grandpa was a pilot, my father is one and I just have to show him off. This was taken yesterday after his first solo flight!! Man, I'm proud to be that boy's mamma!! 5.6 hours of instructional flight and they sent him up alone!!!

Life is great!

Congratulations!!!!!

Of all the things I have wanted to do, it was to fly on my own. My uncle had a plane and I flew up front in the copilot seat for many trips on the company airplane, but I just never spent the money to get my license. I have always loved to fly, except commercial.

Congrats to your son. The hubby took a few lessons just didn't have the extra time or money back then for him to continue. When is he taking you on your first plane trip with him as the pilot?

But learning to fly is 20 times harder.:bang head: And 20 times more expensive. :mo money:It was my goal to learn and I did in in my 40's. The first solo you'll never forget. Congratulations are in order. :happy34:

Congrats! When I can afford it, I plan on getting mine. I have several thousand hours on a simulator, which count for something when you go to get your license, but I want the real thing. Glad for him!!

Congrats to him and I'm envious. I took lessons about 20 years ago but never finished. It was much less expensive then but I had problems with an instructor who didn't bother to show up about half the time and I got frustrated and quit. Too expensive for me now but I sure wish I had finished.

Good for him! I wish I had stayed with AirCadets as a kid. I would probably have gotten my license. Couldnt afford it now....but if I win that gazillion lottery then watch out!

That is awesome! May he always have the wind beneath his wings.

I started flying, but then got this fear of things. Can't get near an airport or even book a flight now.

Let me start by saying congratulations, from one private pilot to the next. I remember when I soloed my dads float plane (Super Cub) for the first time at age 17 on Lake Temagami. Completed my licence the following year at the airport and made my parents the proudest around. My son has also had the opportunity to fly the same plane with my dad and with myself. I know exactly how you feel. :clap2:

First I want to say thanks for all the congrat's!

When I was 14, I decided I wanted to parachute. My grandpa had done it, and I have a couple cousins that were paratroopers in the army. My dad told me I had to wait till my 16th birthday( my mom was furious), then he'd take me up.

Well, my birthday came, got my cousins over to our little grass airport, they gave me 15 minutes of traing jumping out of the back end of my dad's pickup, and up we went. I'll never forget the look on my dad's face when I let go of the struts! I don't think he ever expected me to do it. It was the biggest thrill of my life!

I think that's why I'm so proud of him, when he called me after his solo, the said that "It was the biggest thrill of my life!"

Call me a sap, but I just love it when people go after their dreams!!
