hig4s Posted April 28, 2009 #1 Posted April 28, 2009 Over 2 years and 12,000 miles before I dropped it in the parking lot. I was trying to back it into a space and got it leaned over a little too far. Managed to set it down soft enough that it didn't even scratch the chrome on the crash bars. Some one ran over and helped me pick it up before I even had time to think about the best places to lift from or figure out the best leverage position..
mini-muffin Posted April 28, 2009 #2 Posted April 28, 2009 Well at least you didn't get hurt or hurt the bike. Now that you got that over with you won't have to worry about it anymore. Margaret

KiteSquid Posted April 28, 2009 #6 Posted April 28, 2009 Some one ran over and helped me pick it up before I even had time to think about the best places to lift from or figure out the best leverage position.. Watch Ride Like a Pro V DVD and they show a woman picking up a HD.
skydoc_17 Posted April 29, 2009 #7 Posted April 29, 2009 (edited) Being 6' tall and 175 lbs. "soaking wet" one of my greatest fears has been "What If "! Go to this website: http://www.pinkribbonrides.com/dropped.html Take a look at the pics as you scroll to the bottom of the page, This lady is very impressive! When at the bottom of the page select video #5 and you will see, first hand how she picks up her bike with it down on it's side. I laid mine over in the grass in my front yard and tried it out, sure enough, I was able to pick up my 800 pound bike by myself! Take a peek at some of the other videos, it is quite educational. Sorry to hear about your drop, I'm glad you and the bike were undamaged. Earl Edited April 29, 2009 by skydoc_17 CRAYON BROKE!

Moakster Posted April 29, 2009 #10 Posted April 29, 2009 Check your crash bar, they tend to bend a little and need straightening.
slick97spirit Posted April 29, 2009 #11 Posted April 29, 2009 Check your crash bar, they tend to bend a little and need straightening. Yep, straightened mine last night.
Eddie Fulmer Posted April 29, 2009 #12 Posted April 29, 2009 I don't have crash bars on mine. I have highway bars
1BigDog Posted April 29, 2009 #13 Posted April 29, 2009 Once you pass that point of no return.............
hig4s Posted April 30, 2009 Author #14 Posted April 30, 2009 Once you pass that point of no return............. Yep, and that point isn't very far away.. I did almost the same thing 2 1/2 years ago with my Kawasaki 750 with Mary on the back, and was able to muscle it back up. The RSV weighs about 250 lbs more than the 750 and Mary did combined.
Big Daddy Posted April 30, 2009 #15 Posted April 30, 2009 Imagine that Al You were able to handle all that loose rock and off camber nonsense at Hunts lodge in Tennesee and then backing into a spot it happens! Glad you were ok brother! See you out there somewhere!
