Holly Posted April 27, 2009 #1 Posted April 27, 2009 Have been offered a set of 99 hd electraglide mufflers, how hard are they to make fit? Is it even feasible? Any advantage as to mileage? Thanks
1BigDog Posted April 27, 2009 #2 Posted April 27, 2009 You will need a set of brackets to make them fit. Look in the classifieds under second gen parts and look for the brackets made by Hillis. Most of us run Road King mufflers. But Im pretty sure most full dress HD mufflers will fit. Were you offered them for free? And what condition are they in? For a comparison I paid 30.00 on ebay for mine brand new in 2004...
MidlifeVenture Posted April 27, 2009 #3 Posted April 27, 2009 I have a set of electra glide's that I am getting ready to install. Holly Posted April 28, 2009 Author #4 Posted April 28, 2009 (edited) They are free, guy at work bought a hd and got 2 sets of mufflers with it, along with the aftermarkets on it. But I also have a bid on some 2000 road kings on ebay. Hope I don't get them now, unless the road kings are better. Edited April 28, 2009 by Holly forgot
doug radford Posted April 28, 2009 #5 Posted April 28, 2009 have any of you guys used the screaming eagle's,and did you have to rejet, thanks
Smely Posted April 28, 2009 #6 Posted April 28, 2009 Put some on mine and love them. I highly recomend that you make sure that both ends (exhaust headers and mufflers) are clean and ALL deposites removed. I spent an hour trying to fit the left muffler on and then took my dremel and cleaned both ends up real nice and added a little high temp grease on the inside of the muffler and the outside of the header. The right side was completed in about 10 minutes after they were cleaned up. Also make sure your mufflers end with -95, -95a, -98 or -98a so you can drill out the baffles. I also recomend contacting Mark at hillis73@aol.com for your brackets. This guy is great and has allot of info for you on how to complete your install. He sells the brackets here http://www.venturerider.org/classifieds/showproduct.php/product/1729/cat/7 Good luck. Smely
