jemorrisonjr Posted April 27, 2009 #1 Posted April 27, 2009 What is the difference syncing a 1st gen Tour deluxe and a 2nd Gen?? I have a friend who wants me to sync his bike
royalstarjac Posted April 27, 2009 #2 Posted April 27, 2009 I've got a 97 RSTC and a 07 RSV. the procedure is basically the same as far as I remember.-Jack
skydoc_17 Posted April 27, 2009 #4 Posted April 27, 2009 (edited) Hey Jim, The object of the Carb. Sync., on any bike is to get all of the Carbs., pulling the same amount Vacuum at the same time. With that being said, the mechanical adjustments might differ from one bike to the next, but when all is said and done, you still want all four Carbs. pulling the same Vacuum. If I remember correctly, the description of the Carb. Sync. procedure in the Second Gen. Maintenance Manual is incorrect and there is a thread on this site that explains the difference in the procedure from the description in the Manual. I am pretty sure that it is Sync. #1 to #2, then #3 to #4, and then right bank to left bank. Hope this helps, Earl Edited April 27, 2009 by skydoc_17 spelling!
jemorrisonjr Posted April 27, 2009 Author #5 Posted April 27, 2009 I've done a few 2nd gens, but havent done a 1st gen yet and was wondering if the carbs have the same nipples on them.... Know HOW to do it, just wondering if they have the same parts
skydoc_17 Posted April 27, 2009 #6 Posted April 27, 2009 Hey Jim, On the First Gen., the nipple on Cylinder #1, (front, left) has a hose on it that goes to the boost sensor instead of a Vacuum Cap. Earl
