Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Hi gang, would somebody go out to there garage ? *lol* I need a measurement from the back of the rear passenger seat to were it meets to the back of the speaker pods or trunk pod. PHOTO would be OK too! Thanks, Jeff
BuckShot Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Sorry bud---Don't have a 2nd gen.:cool10:he he he Do love the looks of your trike though.
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 *lol* Well at least ya didn't have to go out to the garage! And thanks!
cecdoo Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Looks like 1/2" on my 06, if I understand you correctly
OutlawRider Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Laying a yard stick from front to back in the center of the passenger seat to the black pad on the front of the trunk I get 1 inch. The trunk curves back down below and the seat sits back a little below the top. What else do you need.
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Thanks guys, I will be right back with a photo. I thought my wife was CRAZY ... but she is right I think.. After the conversion. she is push more forward, after I took off the backrest had her sit on the bike. she says YES thats more like it. Sooooo I think I will have to have remove some of the backing off the lower part of the back rest for her. I am getting my camera now. see what you think... BRB
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Here is a side angle... Here is a top shot looking down with the pass backrest on, comes up to the stitching. This is with the backrest removed.
OutlawRider Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Hope it works out. I know the importance of keeper the wifes comfy. When the bike leaves my garage with out her on it I hear about later. She did not want anything to to with a bike until she was on it couple of times now she does not want to be home when the bike goes.
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Yep *LOL* I gatta do some Butler carving now on the lower part of the backrest.. wonder what kind of stapler he uses? Ummmmmm
Neil86 Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 Any provision to move the whole trunk back on the trike kit?
Bvinson Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 If I remember correctly there are 2 sets of holes in the trunk. When the dealer put the new warranty trunk on mine (with the plates that are now incluned on all of the 2nd gens) my wife noticed a difference. I checked it out and the had moved it to the first set of holes. It is only about 1/2 inch or so but i guess it is enough to make a difference.
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 That was might first thought. I think that if I made the re-drilled holes in the trunk I could move it back but only about a half inch if that. What is strange is that the trunk is still on the same brackets that it was mounted to before. There was a false fender added, and I could move the seat back but the backrest pushes her back forward.. I have the backrest off now and the cover. all I need is a carving knife *LOL*
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 BILL ?? so I can go to another set of holes? Ummmmmm maybe that is what they did.. they had to remove the trunk to place the new body.. looking for another set of holes now. Thanks, half inch would help, still have not cut on backrest yet *lol*
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Neal and Bill, I did jack the trike up crawled under there and sure enough there are extra holes.. I moved the backrest back , had to add some taller Rubber washers bolted it down and had the wife sit on it and she is OK with it now. THANKS! :happy65:Problem Solved. what a great bunch of folks ,,,and INTERNET in the garage really does help Now to find that staple gun.. glad I didn't remove all the staples sure looks pretty under that cover though. there is even a plastic cover (like a shower cap) over the padding in there. Jeff
BuckShot Posted April 26, 2009 Posted April 26, 2009 THANKS! sure looks pretty under that cover though. there is even a plastic cover (like a shower cap) over the padding in there. Jeff If I hear of you taking a shower with the trike---this club will have to have an intervention.:rotf::rotf:Don't get me wrong, we all love our bikes but you can go to far.
Cougar Posted April 26, 2009 Author Posted April 26, 2009 Gil, Just got out of the shower.. nope she did not go in with me. she just had a bath. can not wax her rear until June. (paint still curing) anyways.. I got the Trunk Pod moved back and even moved the rear seat back just a tad. gatta find e few nuts and bolts to finish her up! I think that is all the problems now. (TWO) so far. but not to bad for a first time build at my dealer. they say this will happen on there first one they do on a new kit. Thank You to ALL of you for your HELP today! You saved my butt! Jeff
