Venturous Randy Posted April 27, 2009 #6 Posted April 27, 2009 I have pictures of me at about five years old playing with cars in front of a motel in Chimney Rock. Laura and I still love taking a ride across the mountain to go there. To be in the mountains, it can get real hot there in the summer and we have went swimming many times in the river and also in the lake in the curve. Thanks for posting the pictures, it brings back a lot of memories. RandyA
Lonehunter Posted May 1, 2009 #7 Posted May 1, 2009 Chimney Rock is my favorite place to visit. Wish I lived closer. I wonder what changes the state will make to it? Jeff

Wanderer Posted May 2, 2009 #9 Posted May 2, 2009 Who's the genuinely good looking guy with the goatee and slick head?
ArticusMedicus Posted July 21, 2009 #10 Posted July 21, 2009 The wife and I go to Chimney Rock and Lake Lure every year. It is our little get away spot. We stay in the little blue hotel near the park entrance. We fall asleep to the sound of the French Broad River running over the rocks. We go to that bar for lunch....If we can't get BBQ ribs in town.... Best damned ribs in the world!! Next time you are there,(This goes for everyone) take the pontoon tour out onto the lake. Last trip of the evening is best.

It was 49 on Mt. Mitchell. Some people should not rub it in as how nice the weather is. The Northern riders don't like that at all. :no-no-no: Just trying to keep all them Northerners off the roads down here, so we can have it all to ourselves. :cool10:
