Laura and I still love taking a ride across the mountain to go there. To be in the mountains, it can get real hot there in the summer and we have went swimming many times in the river and also in the lake in the curve. We stay in the little blue hotel near the park entrance. We fall asleep to the sound of the French Broad River running over the rocks. We go to that bar for lunch....If we can't get BBQ ribs in town.... Best damned ribs in the world!! Next time you are there,(This goes for everyone) take the pontoon tour out onto the lake.
