Guy is seling localy this Venture and ad said is 99 venture. Can someone identify this bike by the badge on gas tank. I don't thik 99 is coming in midnight version. Or could be just painted. As far I can see is missing gas tank trim, and there is no studs on seat. As well hinges on sadlebag is blacked out.

The first Midnight according to the color data in the venture History section was 2002. Doesn't mean its not been painted though.

Thats a '99, look at the seats # 1 and yes the badge is correct for a '99. Somebody painted it black, thats all. How much they asking for it Dan?

Badge matches the 99 but I'm sure they used the same tank badge for several years. All silver engine fins matches but I think they had those up until about 04 so that's no help either. Seats are early Venture as well but they had those for the first years up to about 04 as well. Not a 99 color but, as everyone else said, could have been painted.

Looking for a new Venture already Dan? :whistling: :cool10:

Also, if it was a midnight, it would have chromed forks. I can't tell for sure from that picture but I don't think they are chrome. I agree that it is probably a '99 that has been painted.

Nice Guy, he is coming from Honda Shadow 600 or 650 whatever they are, and bike is to heavy for him. Works for me. I'm back in sadle again.

The easiest way to tell is to check the antenna's. The 99 model was the only version to have antenna's that needed a strong hand or a wrench to loosen them prior to folding. From 2000 on they all came with a base that just lifts up easily to fold flat.

The only easy way to uprgade also meant changing the coax cable as well as they were a completely different connection to the antenna base.

You might also look under the trunk to see if it has the rubber bushings that were retrofitted from 2000 on . Most 99's got them done as a service bulletin but not all.
