SilvrT Posted April 24, 2009 #1 Posted April 24, 2009 Somewhere, someone posted a method to wire an aux fuse block into the exisiting charging circuit INSTEAD OF directly to the battery so that those aux items connected wouldn't cause a big drain on the battery and also so that if an ammeter was installed, it would show the correct info.... I think it was V7Goose who posted this info but I can't seem to find it.... anyone have the link handy?

If you have an aux block in the electrical system, and it has power on it, you are going to drain the battery, where else can the juice come from? The only other thing you could do was put in a relay where the trigger is from a source that only comes on when the bike is either running or the key is in the run position.

If I understood the info I read about this, wiring directly to the battery does not allow for proper readings on an ammeter. There IS an article about this somewhere...just can't find it. I have relays installed and nothing comes on without the key being turned on.

I did this one when I intalled the gauge panel, used a 10 gauge wire and installed a six (6) bang fues panel onto line. Only thing is this will be hot when the bike is turned off so any thing installed will need an off switch I'd say. So fare I've used about half of the new block.. Hope this helps..

SilvrT Posted April 24, 2009 Author #6 Posted April 24, 2009 Thanks guys for the info ... fyi, I've already installed the fuse block under the seat and I wired it direct to the battery... just thought it might be better to wire it differently for future purposes ie. adding an amp gauge instead of or in addition to my volts gauge in the cluster.
