thecount Posted April 22, 2009 #1 Posted April 22, 2009 Since I started looking for new lids, I have come across Carbon Fiber HJC with both DOT/Snell approvals. They fit well, just looking for any other input related to the Carbon material? Any issues on this rather new material for helmet use? Very light weight is a benefit, Cost is the down side. As always, appreciate the input for the riders here on the site. Thanks,
papa smurf Posted April 22, 2009 #2 Posted April 22, 2009 i'll have to google that one myself. only thing i can say personally is... hey, it's my cranium and i'll spend hundreds. I spent 450 on my Aria ff helmet and have not batted an eye about it.
RedRocket Posted April 22, 2009 #3 Posted April 22, 2009 I've had my HJC Carbon for almost 3 years now. It's been faultless, and I really do notice the lightness compared to my other helmets. Venting is just average. Shield changing is very easy.
papa smurf Posted April 22, 2009 #4 Posted April 22, 2009 holy crap... well i did just google it... 1000 bux! really?
RedRocket Posted April 22, 2009 #5 Posted April 22, 2009 No,I recently saw a sale notification on the AC-12 model ( the one I have ) for around $ 200, but I can't seem to recall just where I saw it yet. There are some sellers on ebay around $ 229
thecount Posted April 22, 2009 Author #6 Posted April 22, 2009 FYI Looking at the open face AC-3 Carbon, and pricing is around $300. Sorry, not into the full face helmet. Will then install J&M comm system or a bluetooth comm system. So, Papa Smurf, not a $1000, but rather a little more afordable. Thanks Guys!
Bummer Posted April 22, 2009 #7 Posted April 22, 2009 I just ordered an HJC FS-15 Carbon in red. Web Bike World gave it a favorable review. At $414 it's not cheap, but it's not as expensive as some of the Shoei and Arai ff helmets that weigh more. From what I've read early carbon fiber helmets had delamination problems. I'm under the impression that has been resolved. Sure hope so, since I'm getting one.

Will have to try and arrange with a US purchase and some how get up to the north.
thecount Posted April 23, 2009 Author #10 Posted April 23, 2009 These guys say they'll ship worldwide. Thanks, will give them a yell to see what we can do. Now, figure out the $$$$ duty for shipping to Canada, will be the challenge. Steve S
