Who was William Shakspere?

A group on the internet seems to think that William Shakspere was not the author behind the plays of William Shakespeare

I recall hearing the same accusations mentioned when my high school English classes in the 1960's went over Shakespear. The doubt goes all the way back to when he was living and producing the plays.

 

I think that its also rumored that Hamlet was written after Shakespear fell off his Royal Star Venture and hit his head. Just a rumor, mind you.
