similost Posted April 21, 2009 Author #7 Posted April 21, 2009 Just got home with the bike.. 08 Venture.. .WOW.. what a differnt kind of ride than what I'm used to... getting ready to head our for a little evening ride..
kenw Posted April 21, 2009 #8 Posted April 21, 2009 By your last comment you must have had an old 1st gen before. Yamaha has since greatly improved their product with the present 2nd gen. It's kind of like going from riding with Fred Flintsone and then going for a ride in a new Limo!

Kinda like going from a gocart to a monster truck.. I sure do like it though!!!! Kinda bummin though.. guess I'm gonna have to get out somewhere and call that fancy road side assistance number... The left rear speaker doesn't work..
similost Posted April 22, 2009 Author #10 Posted April 22, 2009 Here's the first picture of it. Got it home after dark, so this is the best I can do for now. The trailer is what I'll be pulling with it. Ignore my mess, too many projects happening at the same time. You can sort of see my other bike behind this in parts at the moment.. Already got it pretty dirty since it waited to rain until I picked it up..
similost Posted April 22, 2009 Author #11 Posted April 22, 2009 OH.. here's a sort of picture of my Roadie..
mraf Posted April 22, 2009 #12 Posted April 22, 2009 Glad you like the new ride. They are a nice bike. Me and Barney are still flat-footing our old bike. But we are comfortable in our rides around the quarry.

Well, if you had gone to a 1st gen, it would have been more like going from a gocart to a sports bike, not a monster truck. Wow, having failures on those 2nd gens before you even get it home!! (Nice bike) RandyA
Vance Posted April 22, 2009 #14 Posted April 22, 2009 Just so long as I can do a wheelie outta the lot.. then I'll relax So........did ya do a wheelie?
similost Posted April 22, 2009 Author #15 Posted April 22, 2009 No wheelie, but I did spin the tire pretty good through the lot.. heheh.. it's broke in now.. ride it like ya stole it! BTW... can anyone tell me how to get the rear seat off real quick? I want to take a look at the wiring for the speaker.. I REALLY don't want to drop it at the dealer for a day or two..
similost Posted April 22, 2009 Author #16 Posted April 22, 2009 Never mind on the seat removal. I found a site that gave me all the info I need to pull everything and get to the speakers.
stvmaier Posted April 22, 2009 #17 Posted April 22, 2009 That is ONE NICE LOOKIN RIDE!!!!!but, then again....I MAY be partial to that color...
cookie Posted April 22, 2009 #18 Posted April 22, 2009 I went from the roadstar to the Venture myself. It was a little scarry at first but I think it's one of the most balanced bikes I have ridden. Venturerider for life!!! Enjoy and keep the rubber side down, both of them. I would love to see you ride a wheelie though.

I would love to see you ride a wheelie though. I've found the opposite to be true as far as balance between the two.. Maybe it's I'm just used to the roadie though... I have found on the Venture though, that if you ride the rear brake at slow speeds, like parking speeds and pulling up to lights, it does handle much better than if you have no pressure on the rear brake.. Just seems like I'm sitting way above the balance point on the Venture. I'm sure I'll get used to that, plus I am already planning on cutting the seat down so I'm sure that will help even more. I also plan on leveling links, so hopefully that will really get it stable at slow speeds. I've tried as I might to get the wheel off the gound on the roadie.. never happened.. I seriously boubt it would ever happen on the Venture, but I had a friend that could ride a hell of an impressive wheelie on a 1800 wing.. I bout crapped the first time I saw that...
BigBoyinMS Posted April 22, 2009 #20 Posted April 22, 2009 I have a 1700 Roadie also. Yes, it's got more torque but in a race I'm not sure it would win. If you wind out the Venture IT WILL GO! By the way, before you tear into that speaker... there is a balance control on the radio pod. It could just be adjusted off. It's in the owners manual. Enjoy!
