highwayrydr Posted April 21, 2009 #1 Posted April 21, 2009 Was considering milling a waterproof gps mount for my gps. but than i would eliminate being able to use it without taking it from the case.. I found this on amazon. I have a nuvi 200w. Use it in my car all the time. and dont want to purchase a new gps just for the bike. What do you think? indianriverjack Posted April 21, 2009 #2 Posted April 21, 2009 I have been using the RAM Mount that I bought on EBay on my RSTD and have been 100% satisfied with it, they offer it for just about all of the GPS units. I am using it for the Nuvi 200W. Good Luck, Jack................................... P.S. I use a Ziplock bag over mine when the weather is wet, when its not wet just unzip it and slide it down out of the way.
Eck Posted April 21, 2009 #3 Posted April 21, 2009 Looks good, but will not work on my Garmin 7200 that I just ordered...
whanna Posted April 21, 2009 #4 Posted April 21, 2009 The Zumos are built to be waterproof... And they come with the second mount, for the car. Now, if only my new Zumo 660 would show up, hopefully before my weeklong trip next month!
highwayrydr Posted April 21, 2009 Author #5 Posted April 21, 2009 Yeah i wish i had the money for one of those though. This would eliminate the need for 2 gps's cause i already have the nuvi
BoomerCPO Posted April 21, 2009 #6 Posted April 21, 2009 A clear Zip-Loc bag works great for my GPS. Boomer.....who's wondering just how many Zip-Loc bags can be bought for $72.00
highwayrydr Posted April 21, 2009 Author #7 Posted April 21, 2009 So i went ahead and bought it. Got 30 bucks back for signign up for credit card (heh) but hey.. 42 bucks .. waterproofing i guess is good
gibvel Posted April 22, 2009 #8 Posted April 22, 2009 This place has a weatherproof mount for almost any GPS: http://www.mountguys.com/category_s/78.htm Just click your unit and there should be a RAM mount weatherproof enclosure at the bottom of the page. Okay, looks like the same unit that's on Amazon. Same company too.
