Guest BluesLover Posted April 20, 2009 #1 Posted April 20, 2009 A graphical/chronological representation of how the International Space Station has come together. It also highlights just how large the darned thing is! http://i.usatoday.net/tech/graphics/iss_timeline/flash.htm Cheers,
pktexas Posted April 20, 2009 #3 Posted April 20, 2009 Thanks for the link. I have watched it from day one. Even brought the model and added pieces as it was being installed. Watch it go over whenever I can.
Guest tx2sturgis Posted April 20, 2009 #5 Posted April 20, 2009 Cool link. I too, watch it fly over when the sun angle is correct. And being a HAM operator, have had several contacts with the astronauts on orbit. If any of you have a programable scanner, the freq to enter for the downlink is 145.800 It increases your chances of hearing it if you have a good outdoor antenna on your scanner, but even a small whip antenna on a scanner will be able to hear it when it passes over your location, IF they are transmitting. Some downlink audio will be the SAREX/ARISS repeaters, and thru those you will hear ground stations contacting one another THRU the ISS ham station. But if you hear the call sign, R0ISS, (thats a ZERO) then you are actually hearing astronauts with a ham liscense making earth contacts. Pretty cool stuff!
Brenda H Posted April 20, 2009 #6 Posted April 20, 2009 YEP! That's the world's most expensive jigsaw puzzle!!
RandyR Posted April 20, 2009 #7 Posted April 20, 2009 I love it. But I've learned to not go the CAPE to watch a liftoff. Everytime I do, there's a delay.
