KarlS Posted April 20, 2009 #1 Posted April 20, 2009 My 11 year old Daughter has been visiting her mother all week and today when I picked her up had to give her some bad news. When I came home Saturday night from riding I noticed the screen on the kitchen window was ripped apart. Went in the house and the kitchen and living room was a mess and cat fur everywhere. Looks like one of the stray cats around here came through the screen to get at my Daughters cat. We have some neighbors that get cats, have litters and turns them loose to fend for them self. Daughters cat has NEVER been out of the house except to go to the Vets. This long hair white cat has been fighting with about everything that moves around here and most of the cat fur in the house looked like it was from Daughters cat and the other was long white fur. I can't find her cat anywhere and all I can figure is her cat ended up going out the window also. Finally got my Daughter to sleep but I don't think that will last long. Never saw a kid and cat play like they did. I guess I could go on and on how much that cat meant to her, I never really liked cats much but that one was OK. So sorry no motorcycle story but just unloaded. You all know sometimes it hard to watch your children hurt so much.....Thanks
IH Truck Guy Posted April 20, 2009 #2 Posted April 20, 2009 Sorry to hear that...Man,that sucks..... Hope your daughter is able to handle the loss... Kids and their pets really bond.....Very tragic... I hate the people that just turn their unwanted pets loose. We had a tomcat that terrorized our neighborhood kids and pets for a year... Nobody could catch or trap the cat...They just gave up....It took me 2 tries to get it and make it disappear.I love animals, but that cat had to go....rant off..............
MAINEAC Posted April 20, 2009 #3 Posted April 20, 2009 She might come back after a day or two probably pregnant... Put some food outside.. You shoulda got her fixed...
BoomerCPO Posted April 20, 2009 #4 Posted April 20, 2009 Feral cats don't last long around here. 3S rules. Give it a few days and hopefully the daughter's cat will turn up. Boomer.....who remembers Bob Barker's (The Price Is Right) advice.
bongobobny Posted April 20, 2009 #5 Posted April 20, 2009 I just hugged our kitty... Hope this story has a happy ending!
SaltyDawg Posted April 20, 2009 #6 Posted April 20, 2009 Looks like you need to do some target practice. Sorry to hear about that, I imagine her cat will turn up in a day or two.
KarlS Posted April 20, 2009 Author #7 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) She might come back after a day or two probably pregnant... Put some food outside.. You shoulda got her fixed... She is a he and the only reason I haven't got him fixed yet is because he never allowed to go outside. We could leave the door open and he wouldn't go out, just set at the door looking out. School already called once to find out why Daughter so upset. Afraid to put food out then would be over run with strays. Edited April 20, 2009 by KarlS spelling
mini-muffin Posted April 20, 2009 #8 Posted April 20, 2009 Don't give up yet. May take a few days for the cat to show up, mostly because it's never been out there before. If you put out the cats favorite food might make it easier to find it's way home. The strays will leave once the food stops coming outside. I really do hope the cat shows back up, I really feel for your daughter. Margaret
KarlS Posted April 20, 2009 Author #9 Posted April 20, 2009 Thanks everyone. Put food out and had to pick Daughter up from school because she couldn't stop crying. Time will tell just hard on kids.

N3FOL Posted April 21, 2009 #14 Posted April 21, 2009 I've never had a pet cat, but I hope you get your daughter's cat back. It is amazing how that other cat just cut through the window screen...it must have some sharp claws.
KarlS Posted April 25, 2009 Author #15 Posted April 25, 2009 Daughters cat home now. Put food out like everyone said and tonight looked out and her cat was eating the food. In the meantime was able to live trap 3 stray cats including the big mean one that came through the screen to get at Daughters cat. Daughter is to say the least VERY HAPPY. Monday cat goes to vet to get checked out and fixed. Thanks everyone.
krome rose Posted April 25, 2009 #16 Posted April 25, 2009 Bizarre and sad. Let's hope that kitty comes home tomorrow now that his little owner is back. Perhaps if he hears her voice he will come back. Brandy
Snaggletooth Posted April 25, 2009 #17 Posted April 25, 2009 Very cool. Glad she got her cat home. I remember how heart broken my daughter was when we lost her first cat. Now prepare yourself for those long, cold, evil stares from the cat when it comes home from the vet. They remember who drove them there. For a long, long time.

KarlS Posted April 25, 2009 Author #25 Posted April 25, 2009 Cat in the house and now in his normal spot sleeping next to my Daughter. Only thing I found was a cut under left eye. The trapped cats went to the animal shelter. Daughter so happy you would think she just had her first ride on a 1st Gen. LOL. Thanks again to everyone.
