RoadKill Posted April 19, 2009 #10 Posted April 19, 2009 Great to get to say Hello to everyone. Wish we would have had more time to stay around, but unfortunately life called . AJ and I had a great ride getting there to meet everyone. The only real rain I got in to was 1 mile from my house:thumbsup:. By the time the day was over I had put 460 miles on the bike. Not bad for only the 2nd ride day ride of the year. Thanks for setting it up. Make it a little early in the day and hopefully I'll get to stay around and cause some trouble. Jay
stardbog Posted April 19, 2009 #11 Posted April 19, 2009 Ok M&E is over, and now who wanna clean my bike. Spend last week all day polishin chrome, and make'em shiny now looks like...... real bike, all dirty and rain spots all over. Huh I think I'll gonna need vacation to clean all that Iowa, and Illinois dirt.
Scooter Bob Posted April 19, 2009 #12 Posted April 19, 2009 Looks like you guys had a fun day. Wish we'd known about it. Or maybe we better start watching that calendar here. I see it was listed. Maybe next time. Karen and I were sitting in the garage with tape measure in hand and camping gear on the floor trying to figure out how to make a luggage rack for the hitch to get the stuff down off the trunk. Since whatever we did would need lights, and waterproof would be nice, we started thinking about putting a closed box back there with lights and all built in. 2 hours later I see your post and in the pics is just about what we are after. Who's got the midnite with the utopia backrest and the extra box on the back?? Is it a store bought tool box with lights added?? Is it bolted to the hitch?? Just don't want to re-invent if I don't have to. Later, Scooter Bob

He built it, got the tool box from Tractor Supply or Orschilens. Put in the lights and bolted it to his hitch. Looks like it worked pretty good! Sorry you didn't make it. We had people representing the great states of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Maybe next time? I think I will try to hit one in another state if I can. It was fun and I met a lot of real good people and found a member that I may have diamond cut my jugs on my bike! See you later, Bryan
Scooter Bob Posted April 19, 2009 #14 Posted April 19, 2009 I just found a thread they posted on the construction with pics. I've already got a Hitch Doc on the back that pulled a 325lb camper trailer with 300+lbs of stuff in it out to your ABATE Freedom Rally a couple years back. And I got in the bike pulls out there also. X-wife got the big trailer, good for her Karen and I get by just fine with tent, just want to get the stuff off the trunk and dry. I think we'll head to the Man's Mall today and look for a box. Thanks Again, Scooter Bob
Blusees Posted April 19, 2009 #15 Posted April 19, 2009 Well, I just sent Blackowl off with a good breakfast. And the best part is that he got my oil drain bolt loose! The oil has been changed! So that's a relief. He said I didn't round the bolt too badly. Thank you all who came down for the Meet and Eat. Cougar and Bryan - thank you for the help in organizing it. We had a fabulous turnout. I'll post my pics soon. Blackowl got some good ones too. Thank you also to all for contributing for our fearless leader. Blackowl will be sending that via paypal. I love the generosity of the VentureRiders! We know how to have a good time too. I'm just going to be sitting here today thinking about all the new folks I met. That was wonderful. --Courtney

Iowawegian Posted April 22, 2009 #19 Posted April 22, 2009 Just spotted this thread. ( No computer at night or on weekends, ya know) anyway....glad to hear Black Owl and Courtney got the oil changed. Was going to ask on the original thread...but thought better of it. Didn't want to embarrass Black Owl! Apparently he's stronger than I gave him credit for. Didn't strip the bolts on her did he Courtney?
