Highway pegs

Kuryakin has highway pegs for Goldwings so you can stretch you legs out. Will these fit on a 1st generation?

 

I need something with an extension. The little bitsy pets that fit directly to the engine guard just don't do it for me. Are there alternatives?

Kuryakin has several different styles of off set highway pegs that will fit the 1st Gen. I believe the case guards on the 1st Gen at 7/8 inch.

 

I would definitely recommend the off set pegs, and I think Kuryakin sells a long horn off set. The off set is more versatile giving you many positions for the pegs.

Ken, I used the Longhorn Offsets. They are a little pricey, but I like them alot. They have almost unlimited adjustment and I have adjusted mine several times to get just the feel I like. Quality is good and they are very comfortable.

The tubing on the 1stGen engine guards is 1". Here are a couple of pics of the Kuryakyn pegs I put on mine. They're not any wider than those mounted on the horizontal tube, but further foreward giving more legroom for those of us who are horizontally challenged..... The long horns may place the peg farther out but I didn't feel it was neccessary.

Thanks for pics Condor. I think I'll look into these pegs as they seem to offer more adjustment than mine.

The top ones look good, for me. I like the 'round' peg for more movement options/leg angles.

The top ones are the ones I have. Their great. Have had to retighten them a couple times but that don't mean I had them cranked all the way up like I should have. Their well made and shine up nice. Mike

Yeah, the 'pad' doesn't offer a lot of positions. I like to rest the back of the leg on the peg and extend the foot all the way forward once in a while, and it won't work with the angled leading edge of that pad style. Some pads do have a flat edge but they still dig into the leg. Round pegs are very versatile for positioning. I have a set of those 'cool' ISO pads, but find the good old round style works best. But..... to each his own.:)
