Hey all

I got my Dynamics Clusters from Custom Dynamics today but need some help in the hook up. There are no where I can pass the wires that need to connect to the Brake/running light wires in the tail light. I know I have to drill holes (I guess) but not sure whre the best place would be to do it.

Anyone with pictures of theirs?

Thanks

Maritimer,

I ran the extra run/stop circuits through the same guide as the original turn signal/ground circuit is currently in. I popped out the original pigtail portion at the signal base and ran the new circuit from behind the license plate junction box through the guides attached to the rear fender. It was a little tight, but it fit nicely. I then connected all four wires with quick disconnect adapters instead of fighting the 1157 base. I'll snap a shot or two tonight and post tomorrow.

I think I am getting what you are saying Ponch. Can't wait to see the pics. Hopefully I get your drift here.

Thanks for taking the time to snap some shots.

The pics aren't a lot of help.

The wires from the clusters are very small gauge and (if I remember correctly ) I slipped them inside the existing wire loom going to the junction box. The wire loom is held tight to the inside of the fender via a fold over metal tab.

Inside the junction box. The wires coming in from the top are to a light bar.

Inside the light housing. Remove the bulb recepticle and run the wires trough the original loom. If it won't fit, Lowes sells some thin wall vinyl tubing that works great for wire looms.

Under the fender. You will have to unbolt the tailight assembly and pull it away from the fender to have room to work. The pictures are not that good, but I think you can see how the wire looms are attached to the fender. Now that I see the pics, I don't remember if the loom tabs are screwed to the fender or secured with bend tabs.

It sounds like a lot of work, but its not hard, just time consuming. And worth it in my opinion.

Good luck, Ponch

Tx Ponch. Pictures are great. I am sure I can figure out what goes on under the fender. So if I am right on this, you remove the part where the bulb connect completly and just ran 4 wires (ground, turn signal, running light and brake light) from the cluster to the license plate. I guess I wasn't thinking of cutting the connector to the light socket but that would make sense and leave way more room to pass the wires.

I feel more confident I can do this now thanks to you.

Yeah, I just ran all wires to the J' box/license plate. The hardest part is running the wire loom through the factory locations and holes. If you noticed, I left entirely too much wire in the J' box. I think I'll go back in and shorten some of the wires to neaten it up a little.

Enjoy

If you decide to leave in the boot for the existing bulb, lubricate things with WD-40 so that the wires won't get "pinched". That was the advice the manufacturer gave me when I installed my auxiliary LED brake lights (Electrical Connection).

I got'er done. Looks dang kewl I must say. Glad I added those clusters. Best lighting for the buck.

Thanks to Ponch for the pictures and Dave for the hint on lubricating the boot. I did that and it worked great. Thanks for the help in performing this mod.

Cheers

I WANT THAT!!!

Please list a parts list! Love the light bar under the trunk, and love the blinkers/runners/brakes.

So the blinkers hold the super cluster things? What is the light bar on the trunk and what's in your tail light?

I recently updated my lightbar thanks to Thom440.

The first video is of my original LED installation with Dynamic Clusters and Diamond R light bar.

The second is with the Chrome Glow lightbar and LED License plate bracket.

You'll need a pair of dual input Diodes from an RV supplier to make the turn signals and brake lights work at the same time. Sorry no link available yet.

I pulled the stock light socket out and replaced them with the dogeyz (Dynamic Clusters) from Custom Dynamics. This way I had run/brake and turn signals in one fixture and and the turn signals still flash amber. I had to add a brake light circuit to the fixture. I ordered clear turn signal lenses as well to make the LED's even more noticeable. Custom Dynamics - clear lenses

I used an electronic flasher instead of load equalizers. It works great. I also have the LED tailight with 1157 plug in. I added some bullet point lighted license plate bolts to light up the license plate.

The only thing about using LED's or an elctronic flasher is the self canceling feature won't work any more.

Ponch,

Those upper turn signals that stick out from your lightbar.....are those the stock Yammie front turn signals, or what? I've been wanting something like that. I have the lightbar but want more.

post #49. Hope this helps ya out.

The light mounts are passing light turnsignal adapters. Yamaha doesn't offer them for sale. You have to buy the passing light kit, bar and all to get them. I asked my Yammi parts guy about buying some and he said "they're not available, but let me check on something". He came back about ten minutes later and handed them to me for free. Apparantly the service department had replaced a passing light kit on a wrecked bike and kept the parts. Yay! So if anyone has to replace a passing light kit , save the parts.

I took the helmet holders off and drilled/bolted the adapters to the bracket where the holders were. There's not much room inside the gussets behind the helmet holder for the head of a bolt. I tried to find socket head cap screws in a MM10x1.25 (I think) but couldn't find them so I used a little bit longer bolts (hex head) than I needed and put a spacer under the heads so I could get a wrench on the head. I'm thinking about remounting the helmet holders just slightly below where they were.

I bought two FRONT turn signal assemblies from www.yamahasportsplaza.com pulled the stock light socket out and replaced them with the dogeyz (Dynamic Clusters) from Custom Dynamics. This way I had run/brake and turn signals in one fixture and and the turn signals still flash amber. I had to add a brake light circuit to the fixture. I ordered clear turn signal lenses as well to make the LED's even more noticeable. Custom Dynamics - clear lenses

Most think this looks ugly, but at the risk of being so, I will do whatever I can to get more noticeable lighting on the rear of the Venture. Ask anyone who has ridden behind me on a run if you can see this setup.

Hope this helps. Works for me.
