hi folks

as you know sarah and i volentureed to head up the kids actives for the rally. we have a couple of ideas. snarley bill has asked us to come up with some kind of games that we can use the m/c with the kids. one is a ring toss from a moving m/c. still working on a few others. but i would like some suggestions from everyone. any kids input would help also. i belive were are breaking new ground here. to have some kind of actives in the evening after the rides are over.

thanks

come on folks, help gunboat and sarah out. i've never done the bike games but i would be willing to try. i saw a gal on a harley one time doing the slow ride, she was about to blow the motor up and frying the clutch. it made me cringe. anyway, gunboat volunteered to set up some games for everyone old and young so if you have any ideas throw them at him. bill :2133:

Set up a route through the local area, post signs (a whole lot of them) with Venture related words or pictures on them. The parent or volunteer rider, takes a child on the preset route, the child then spots and writes down what the sign is and where it was located. The child with the most correct wins, ties can be broken by accuracy of where they spotted the signs.

Putting the signs on both sides of the road, some "not so conspicuous" will make the job of finding them all a little tougher and easier to declare a winner. This can be divided up into different age catagories as well so a twelve year old won't be competing with a six year old, making the game fair for several different age groups.

Another idea would be to connect with someone that has organized games for the GW rallies or Wing Ding...

The passenger holds a shallow bowl of water over the drivers head, while they drive over the course you have picked out. The one with the most water left wins. Or if it is hot and you get socked, who is the winner really?:rain2:

Also you can set up a bowling lane with plastic pins. Drive up to a line and the passenger releases the ball towards the pins. Chose how many times to achieve a score.

You might want to call the Hub and see what others have done. We haven't been to this type of rally berfore, so I'm afraid I don't have any other suggestions.

OK, here's one I saw at a bike meet one time. They set up a horizontal bar on two uprights like what pole vaulters use except only not so high. The rider and passenger rides under it at fairly slow speed. As they pass under it, the passenger tosses a water balloon up and over the bar and tries to catch it on the other side. If they catch it, they go on to the next round, and if they miss, they are eliminated, (and the rider or passenger or both get soaked if the balloon misses their catch and lands on one of them, which happens about half the time). Whoever is the last one left successfully catching the balloon gets a small prize. I know it sounds kind of lame, but it's all I can think of at the moment.

I saw a game at a Star BQ once with a hot dog. On a horizontal bar suspended from two verticals similair to a garage door opening suspend a hot dog tied on one end from a string. As the bike passes thru the opening the passenger reaches up with their mouth and takes a bite from the hot dog. The winner is the passenger with the largest section of hot dog bit off. If you want to add a little more drama and fun to it put some mustard on the hot dog.

This sounds like a fun idea. Just to add on a little...instead of using signs, you could nail up stuffed animals on trees. (I'm sure you could find some at Good Will)

We ride in Wisconsin and theres one road that has stuffed animals for miles on trees. Don't know what the purpose is or was...but Gary and I even get a bang out of seeing them!
