heb1998 Posted April 12, 2009 #1 Posted April 12, 2009 I have a 87 venture that i traded for. It runs good, but the class system is not working properly. I have searched the forum and found out how to fix the E1-E4 problems. I purchased a owners manual for this bike off of ebay. There is now mention of how to operate the leveling system. It shows how to put air in the front and rear. My questions are: where do i find info on how to use the class system? And do I still have to manually put air in the front forks and rear shock? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
IH Truck Guy Posted April 12, 2009 #2 Posted April 12, 2009 If it's a standard model, you have to manually put in air. If it's a Royal,it has a onboard compresser and the controls on the left side of the fairing to set the air pressure.
Bummer Posted April 12, 2009 #3 Posted April 12, 2009 Seems like if it has the buttons it should have the compressor. From memory and it's been a while: Put the bike on the center stand. Key on, but not running. Press Front. Medium. The compressor under the trunk should make some noise. Rear. Medium. Compressor sounds again. Ride. Ok? No, do it again trying either High or Low as seems needed. You can also do it in manual, but I'd suggest starting in auto to get a feel for it. Ok current First Genners, how'd I do?

Sounds good to me,although I have a standard so I don't have any of that hi tech stuff.
Condor Posted April 12, 2009 #5 Posted April 12, 2009 The class will only work when the ignition switch is in the accessory position. And only then when going from 'off' to 'acc'. Not when turning the key from 'run' to 'acc'. The class system computor runs at about 2 htz. Not the fastest thing in the world, and you have to wait for a bit after pushing any button before it responds... So, put the bike on the center stand, and turn the ingition switch to 'acc'. You should be getting a PSI reading on the class screen, and you have a couple of selections to make. #1 is Manual or Auto. I hardly ever use manual, but if you do, you can use the 'increase' or 'decrease' buttons to adjust the PSI. 14# max on the front, and 71# max on the rear. In 'Auto' use 'low..med..high' to select the PSI. Remember, to wait after you push any button for the CLASS system to respond. 2 to 3 seconds should do. Hope this helps...
Thom Posted April 12, 2009 #6 Posted April 12, 2009 Yep , you got it rite , i run it on high when 2 up and have trailer on or doin hard twistys and low on long flat roads when i want a very soft ride . remember always air the front one 1st than the rear . i lov the the CLASS i can change the ride to fit me and my load and not have to use a hand pump .
