BOO Posted April 5, 2009 #5 Posted April 5, 2009 My son has been trying to fly to Alaska for the last week or so. He lives in the Denver area and it's either been snow storms in Co or the Volcano in Alaska, haven't talked to him for a few days so don't know if he's made or not. Was going for a job interview. BOO
Ivan Posted April 6, 2009 #6 Posted April 6, 2009 My dad lives in Aniak AK, and the eruption has most of the flying around southern AK shut down. Lots of villages are starting to wonder if they will get food and supplies in time from what he says. For several days Anchorage was shut down and that's where most everything in southern Alaska comes through. Most of the rivers won't break until around may, so getting barges in is not an option right now, but it has been a warm spring and the rivers aren't really safe to drive on. When it is cold enough they blade the ice smooth and use them like highways.
